Can I ask you a question?

A lot of us get these messages, I know.
How do you respond? Ignore? Say no?
If they say "Can I...", I usually say "I don't know, can you?".
If they say "May I...", I usually say "You just did".
However, I'm considering a new approach. I might ask them to guess the number between one and ten I'm thinking of and if they get it right they can ask.
Or perhaps a little quiz. I'd need to think of questions that can't be Googled though. Any suggestions? |

Do you actually have a question you want to ask me though? |

How I respond to question messages depends entirely on my mood. Sometimes I'm a bit playful and nice about it and sometimes I'm sarcastic.
I guess people just need to catch me on a good day. |

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter _ed light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see _ed and orange colours because the blue light has been scatte_ed out and away from the line of sight. |

"Why is the sky blue? "
Because dust particles and vapour droplets tend to scatter the shorter wavelength light (violet/blue und of the spectrum) so that in daytime the whole sky looks blue.
At sunset the sky looks _ed as you look to the horizon as the scatte_ed light is scatte_ed away from us and the longer wavelength (_ed/orange light) passes through to our eyes.
Works if you put coffee mate in your fish tank and shine a torch the length of the tank. The sides look blue...scatte_ed light but the opposite end looks _ed...passes through.
The fish don't like it tho!

"I usually just say yes.
I don't see the point of a sarcastic response."
Why play games just because you have a bit of excess attention?
Unless I knew someone well I wouldn't even bother playing along with that kind of shit. |

Messaging to ask if you can ask a question is playing games. I play back, sometimes. |

I'll admit, I'd just ask the question but I think people are just attempting to be polite. |

From the questions I've had when I've said yes, I'm dubious to be honest.
I used to say yes. My approach changed as a result of my experiences. |

If someone says something like hi, I saw your profile/saw you on the forum and I was wondering something, may I ask you a question, I'd say yes.
That's a bit different to a copied and pasted single line that they try on multiple women.
Again, from experience. |

"He's there before he jumps
Where is he when he jumps?"
It depends upon your interpretation of when the jump starts. On the bridge. In the air. Many possibilities. Why? |

And we are only assuming that he is about to commit suicide by jumping. He might have gone home to do it. Is this one of those strange riddles? |

No matter what their first message is, I always reply politely. Too many fucking rude people on here. |

I'm not rude when I reply.
You just did/I don't know, can you? aren't rude. A bit sarcastic, yes, but not rude.
Ignoring it would probably be ruder. |
