They're probably gonna mention diet, exercise and sleep along with drinking and smoking. It's all mainly genetics and luck at the end of the day. Everything in moderation, don't worry about things out of your control and enjoy life while you can.

Remember - most of those brain training apps etc don't give your brain much help, apart from getting better at those specific tasks. Cambridge uni published an investigation a couple of years ago debunking most claims and it's largely still the same. One of the world's biggest providers was sued in the USA this year for false claims of benefits.

Certainly use it or potentially lose it, to some degree. And retain your social interaction, which is essential for us as social animals too.

She is in japan now in Okinawa, they live the longest in the world than rest of us, one 85 year old is a master in karate, the elderly is highly valued and they say respect is one thing, but the food they eat are the key which keeps them healthy, "food is medicine" But what is it in the food that keeps the brain healthy? The local diet he discovered was the key role in maintains their healthy brains? He discovered the purple sweet potatoes which is a powerhouse for nutrition, half a kilo they eat.

They done a test. Table tennis v walking for 10 weeks, table tennis is more social, walkers are also benefiting, they feel better and more alert. They are crunching the data, most over all cognitive performance the walkers won and gave more benefit.

2nd test of the result structure in the brain, aerobic activity walkers did good but the table tennis won cos it improved the mental sharpness.

3rd test is emotional well being, extra benefit of playing table tennis, emotional rate, fewer negative emotions than the walkers did so benefiting more.

Both groups saw a good performance, but the walkers just won.

Diet is important too, by cutting out meat and eating more fruit helps and could add years to the life and as well counteract stress. Exercise plays an key role, especially if it engages you, mentally, physically and socially. The best thing as an over all exercise for body and brain is to dance. Good for balance, spatial awareness, social and using the brain.

They did NOT say cut OUT meat. They said eat less meat and MORE fruit and veg.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Red meat is not good for arthritis which I have. So I never eat it more than once a week if that. Have chicken or fish mostly and some days entirely vegetarian. I've definitely felt a difference.

My consultant told me I had to stop zumba as it was damaging my knees which is where my arthritis is.

Isn't that exercise in disguise? I've never tried it.. Looks a bit too frantic for my liking

It's a type of dance. Lots of fun and a great workout. Always left every class buzzing . IF it weren't for my knees I'd still be doing it.

Life isn't about waiting

For the storm to pass

It's about

Learning to dance

In the rain.
