It would be easy (maybe cynical?) to suspect that Single Men, the anonymous rather than the prolific/well known posters, wrack their brains trying to come up with an interesting topic which will get them noticed hence improving their 'eligibility'. Nothing wrong with that.
However some of the subjects are so 'overused' and 'hackneyed' that they just end up getting the piss ripped out of them which is obviously counterproductive.
Guys, can we suggest that before posting you use the 'Search Forum' facility?
This shows how many times the subject has been brought up previously and may prevent you looking like a dick in a bad way rather than in a good way lol.
