After 9 weeks off plan eating like a pig and drinking like a fish I went back to group today and iv put on 9.5lbs!! Why is weight so hard to lose and so easy to go back on lol!!

Currently feeling like a right fatty! Back to being healthy and exercising properly (not just sex lol) from tomorrow....booooo!

Well done hun. Any loss is good! I used to be on steroids for my asthma and they made me put on weight too. That got better as I got older though and managed to stop taking them

Don't mean this to sound at all condescending as I have had my battles with weight before, however....::

Why do people think that dieting will last when you stop?

You overeat, you gain weight.

You eat right. You lose it.

You stop eating right, you put the weight on again.

You don't get to eat right for a few months then go back to overeating and expect the weight to stay off.

It's about changing eating habits, not about short term dieting.

think we know that... I think all the big "diets" are now about healthy eating not dieting

I know due to medical issues I have to work damned hard yo lose weight. I also know it takes me very little to put on...

I know how, what and why... But sometimes I just lose my way.

I'm fed up with my bad back and think my weight isn't helping..ive tried ww, sw, Cambridge, Atkins, slim fast, celebrity slim..you name it. They've all worked to some extent but I never stick to it hence the weight comes back.

I've recently moved and there is a slimming world group directly opposite me so I'm going to join again on Thursday!

I think it's pretty common to eat off plan and have a large weight gain, it's what keeps people coming back to SW / WW.

I suppose if you know that the plan works for you, then to lose & maintain you'll have to try and stick with it.

Up your water intake & exercise too

I joined slimming world on the 4th Jan and I've lost a grand total of 9.5lbs

The past few weeks I haven't been as motivated as a result, still going to the gym 4 times a week though.

With regards to 'diets' as someone mentioned above, it's just a word. They're all 'healthy eating lifestyles' and such these days. We all know it's not a short term thing, it's just that when we talk about it the word diet is quicker to say.

I totally agree with you! Iv been doing the same thing for years and it does my head in! I'm really good for months, I exercise, drink loads of water and stick to plan and I feel great. Then slowly il start to slip and then sometimes I think oh fuck it I'm not that fat have 3 months off plan and then put it all back on again and back to square one. I know im my own worse enemy!!

I've never dieted...

I think serious diets are just too hard to stick to, try gradual changes in eating habits eating and more excercise.

It will take longer to lose but the weight is more likely to stay off if you simply gradually change your lifestyle than a sudden drastic change.

I now just need to follow my own advice

I'm ok on excercise less good on the eating, or maybe too good at eating.
