Who are they really helping.??
The folk who are asking really,
often the advice is ignored
I'm often left scratching my head why someone cannot create a profile or message themselves..
I often think the folk asking want it to be spoonfed.
I guess in its extreme case it'll muddy the waters for the guys who have created something themselves.

Even when it's spoonfed they sometimes still don't do anything about it.
It really bugs me that we have a forum search box to use and no one actually seems to do so. If people bothered to use it to find info on their query there would be a lot less of the same threads over and over again.
But I suspect most just want a whinge or attention really |

Not everyone knows how to maximise the site to their best ability. It takes some a while to see what works,some will never make it work. By asking what works for others they are acquiring new options. |

Yep I've sought help and advice on various things myself and the forum has proven helpful ..

The people who feel they need to comment on my profile details and photos in a negative manner when I never asked their opinion make me laugh. I'm doing fine without them lol |

This wasn't particularly a single man observation, btw - I'd argue this about a lot of threads. For example "how can I stop getting messages which deeply offend me because they're from men I'm not interested in" and someone suggests blocking people and proactively messaging for themselves, and that generally doesn't go down well, because obviously it's everyone else who should change their behaviour...
Delete as applicable for "why do people send unsolicited friend requests" "people don't address us as a couple" and so on. |

I think profile advice threads are sometimes 'look at me's.
They don't believe they are doing anything wrong. They think it's just that people haven't seen or noticed them yet and they need more advertising.
Suggesting they are actually doing something non-optimal annoys them and they'll often argue and get defensive. They certainly won't take any of the advice.
What they expected when they posted was a flurry of interest from people saying no, you're doing nothing wrong, I hadn't seen you before but I'd like to meet you. |

I think it's all about the poster who's asking for the advice and the subject topic.
If you're on here a wet week and you're asking stupid questions that have been asked a zillion time before, you're looking for attention, and if that's you please stop, attention seeking is not attractive.
But if a well established poster (or not so established) asks a decent question I would say it carries more weight and it's good foruming, it can only add to the place. |

Many people assume if others don't take the advice offered that they are wasting peoples time by asking in the first place.
