Titz Towers, North Notts

Say hello to strangers. I hear it generally gets a lively response in London

Find a nice café and people watch, I love doing it to kill time

Sit in Covent Garden or St Christopher's Place with a pot of tea and people watch. Or watch the street performers on the Southbank. Depends on where you are.

London is a big place. I could suggest something but you could be two hours away

Jump on the train to Oxford circus, walk down Regent street, pop into Hamleys and buy a yoyo. Walk around the corner of Carnaby village and do some window shopping while you practice your yoyo skills.

The National Gallery, having picked up a book from Waterstones across the road. Have a mooch (don't miss Turner's The Fighting Temeraire). Fabulous way to lose an afternoon.
