"

Looking at the support for Donald Trump, I'm not sure this would lead to any improvement
"
A very good point, and what is undesirable to you isn't undesirable to others.

"I would like an extra space at the bottom of all ballot papers that said:
None of the Above!
This is an option in Spanish elections "
Shame we don't have it.
would also like to see it being a legal requirement for everyone eligible to vote having to vote.
I think having 30/40+% of the electorate voting None of the above would make professional politicians start representing their constituents rather that the corporate twat that gives them the biggest backhander! |

It's one of those accidental vagaries of the modern age that MPs voted for this clause that says
* if 10,000 people sign an e-petition the government will respond.
* if 100,000 people sign a petition it triggers a debate in Parliament.
Perhaps you could submit the 'none of the above' idea? |

Put a x through all of them, in other words spoil yr paper..same result"
It is not! Doing that the scrutinizers can get together and just write the paper off as one from an idiot who does not understand how to vote!
I write "NONE OF THE ABOVE" under the other candidates and draw my own box under the others in which I put my X
Takes me a min or so but leaves everyone in no doubt as to what my ballot means! |

It has been refused by the committee 3 times already! |

Remember when Malalai Joya was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize or when BBC 6 Music was saved from closure? How about when campaigners won a fight to keep a woman on our banknotes?
It is possible.
My fav was when Iain Duncan Smith claimed on national radio that he could live on jobseeker's allowance and 400,000 of us asked him to prove it.

I think we are on the same side...
Only...
did IDS spend 3/6 months living on £70 a week? I think not! |

Indeed!
Can we apply sanctions to him for not doing enough to take a minimum pay job?

For the Un-Aware
When is the Scottish Parliament election?
The Scottish Parliament election will be held on Thursday 5 May 2016.
Who can vote?
You can vote if you are:
aged 16 or over on the day of the election, and
a UK, Commonwealth or European Union citizen, and
resident at an address in Scotland, and
on the electoral register
How do I register to vote?
You can register to vote:
online at gov.uk/register-to-vote, or
by contacting the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for your local area. You can find the ERO contact details using the postcode search on the About my vote website
You must register by 18 April 2016.
Who and what will I be voting for?
The Scottish Parliament passes laws on devolved matters in Scotland. You will be voting for the Members of the Scottish Parliament, or MSPs, who will represent you and make decisions on devolved matters in Scotland.
You have two votes:
1 vote for a constituency MSP
1 vote to elect regional MSPs
You can find out how MSPs are elected in the fact sheet on the Scottish Parliament electoral system.
A total of 129 MSPs will be elected to the Scottish Parliament on 5 May 2016.
What about Scottish Parliament business?
The current session of the Parliament is scheduled to end at midnight on 23 March 2016.
Dissolution will begin immediately after that on 24 March 2016.
During dissolution there are no MSPs and so no parliamentary business can take place.
Other organisations
The Scottish Parliament is not responsible for organising or administering parliamentary elections.
Contact
your local Electoral Registration Office about registering to vote
the Electoral Commission for guidance on standing for election
your local authority about arrangements for polling places and counting the votes

Don't really care, cause as long as we keep continue to use first past the post, we will never have a fair representation anyway.

That would exclude about 99% of current MP's ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
