The main problem is that just because they earn more money that everyone else governments seem to think they should pay a higher rate of tax.
If tax was set the same for everyone then there would be less reasons to find ways to lose less of the money you have worked so hard to build up.
If it was 20% across the board it would be much fairer and you would get more people paying it without quibbles.
Yes there will always be some that will take the piss but you will get that no matter what but at least it would be more valid to then go after them.

Corparation tax is lower than personal taxation with higher thresholds but still have world wide corporations avoiding there fair dues! The problem is deeper than fairness it's human nature to look for a easy route to accruing things which bring power.
If a rule is enforce we will try and beat it, age old issue simular to sex basic drivers. |

True of corporations I will agree on that but what about the guy who gets paid £50'000 plus? I think it's unfair to hit him with a massive tax bill thus making him seek out tax avoidance schemes
Corporation tax should be set at the base rate of 20% as with everyone else then you would see some major tax money coming in |

I heard a report on TV reporting that if tax was set at 10% and everyone (including Google, Facebook...) paid it then the government would receive more in taxes than they do with the current system. |

It's triple or quadruple the size of Wikileaks, in terms of terabytes, and we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg. |

"From what I can gather they haven't actually done anything wrong. If I had millions I know I'd want to hold onto as much of it as I can.
Can't honestly see what the big deal is myself.
*Shrugs*"
It's really simple:
Why can't the rich pay their fair share of tax like the rest of us shmucks? |

Quite agree, I don't like paying tax especially at the higher rate. I just can't get worked up with righteous indignation/shock/horror because super rich people have found legal ways of holding onto their money. |

I'm imagining you're part of the 'squeezed middle' - you have to be earning *only* £140k+ in this country to be in the top 1% of earners.
Problem is, that top 1% own own as much as poorest 55% of population.
The more you earn, the less you pay. And those at the top get away with financial murder by telling everyone to kick down on people 'below' you for having more than they're entitled to.
It stinks.

I pay 40% tax. I was penalised and charged 50% tax for not declaring an income from some rental property in 2012. Totally slipped my mind but HMRC could care less and they want it by the end of the week.
I'm pissed of because I didn't try to con the taxman, truly forgot about it. Yet whilst they're shooting fish in a barrel going after me, I still can't get worked up about this.
Likewise I don't get twisted out of shape at those sat at home enjoying an easy life at my expense, because if I could get someone to pay for me I'd sit at home too.
