Funny man my dad...not funny 'ha ha' just one of those funny people. Bit heavy of opinion and not easily steered from a course be it good or misguided. Proud sort of creature but not too much. Not a fan of beer or gravy. Quiet often. Occasionally loud
he used to be like this but now he's a funny man..not funny like that..but funny ha ha.
Looks a mess now...big scar ear to temple..two brain surgeries see? Well...one and a large bleed and an overnight emergency operation..old bugger had to make fuss!
But now he talks...alot...never too loud but of things not happened..of visitors never been or of folk who came this day who are in all reality long passed away. A little confused he is now....requests of pork pies gravy and beer he makes...and fish and chips..always now the fish and chips with him.
He tells us how well he is and makes us all laugh and with fixed assured stare...the sort of old, he assures us all will be well again and that he fights before drifting back off into his own little world of...whatever.
i love that man. This version the last and the next and that is all really..no rhyme or reason to this other than just to let it be written.
get well soon dad.

My dad had a 2nd stroke a few weeks ago it's left him blind in one eye ,he now has to have care going in every day ,he was my mums main career but she her self has been in hospital 4 weeks now and will be coming home to die. I will be doing her end of life care ,it's so hard watching your parents get old and frail |

What a lovely lovely thing to say about your dad. What a way to put it too!!! I'm truly dreading the day anything happens to either of my parents. I think we all sometimes take them for granted and think they'll be there forever! I hope you have many more wonderful days of memories with your dad hun. If he could see the beautiful words you've written I've no doubt he'd be very proud!! Big hugs to you. Xx |

Lost my Mum a year back , she had dementia .
She wasn't the Mum I knew and loved by the time she went . But the happy memories remained and are still there .
Stay strong Christos , remember every happy moment you shared with your Dad , no matter what happens .
Hopefully he will get better , and you being there for him can only help .
Thanks for sharing
Much love xx |

To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven;
A time to build up, a time to break down,
A time to dance, a time to mourn,
A time to cast away stones,
A time to gather stones together. |

What a brilliant post......sad, and yet so full of joy!
Make the most of your dad while you still have him....I miss mine so much!
The one that used to take me fishing as a young lad.
The one that took me to work on building sites as a teen.
The one who scrimped n saved to help me through University.
The one that taught me to be who I am today.
The one who provided the holiday accommodation and inspiration to his grandkids and who accepted my ex as one of the family.
The one who I took fishing later in life w hen roles were reversed.
The one I miss so much now. |

It's a very sad thing to lose someone we love or see them so ill.
But it's a nice thing that strangers can be supportive in bad times.
My best friend's mum died and as I watched her at the funeral I just couldn't imagine how she coped. I had no idea that within 5 months she'd be at my Mum's funeral.
It's totally shit and really hard to face but it's life and reminds you that making the most of time you have with people that mean a lot to you is essential.
The same friend has been given 2-3 years to live herself. I see her as often as I can |
