"Maybe irked. It would depend on the situation and how I felt about the neighbour.
I'd probably let it go unless it was the latest in a long line of such incidents."
The neighbour is not very likeable. Quite a jerk. |

"something of yours goes missing.
three days later a neighbour brings it back.
are you annoyed or okay about it ?
It wasn't expensive. No one died. "
As stealing is defined as taking without permission, borrowed doesn't apply. So anoyed with whoever didn't have the common decency or basic manors to ask if they could use it. If that turned out not to be the person who returned it then happy that they brought it back.

Now see, that basically sums up what happened.
But I thought stealing was with the intention to permanently deprive. |

What if you looked for the broom and eventually considered it stolen ?"
A proper bollocking! Out of order unless there is an unwritten agreement of borrowses - that can exist between friends. |

I once had my mop bucket and mop taken from my front step.. Didn't get it back though... Who pinches a mop bucket full of dirty water? |

And the neighbour is the one who took it? I'd be cross. He'd know I was cross. |

Not sure how my neighbour would be able to gain access to the house to do this, but the kids do it all the time: headphones, hairbrush, leggings, laptop, anything and everything ... but woe betide mum or dad doing the same to their stuff |

Depends on what it was and how much wear they put on it. My expensive stuff is safely locked away, but cheap stuff like gardening equipment or car related stuff like tyre compressor, jacks and jump leads I'm not bothered, in fact18 months ago a neighbour borrowed the wife, my biggest fear is the he will bring her back. |

That's understandable. I just say it cuz I've had neighbors where no one took issue with going in each other's shed and borrowing tools and the like. Just a different relationship I guess. For me anyway.
But in principle I would usually agree with you. |

"What is this, 20 Questions?
Tell us what went missing and the whole thing will snap in to perspective.
I'd be pretty pissed if anyone borrowed our stuff without asking.
It's just polite."
I can't.
It's very specific and it'd give me away to the neighbours.
Surely the 'thing' doesn't matter.
I told him to 'keep it' when he brought it back but not in a nice way.
Now .... the Polks said sommat that i've taken on board and I cased the neighbours joint this morning while I did a three ( ten ) point turn. |
