Do any of these descriptions apply to you as to why you use FAB ?

Don't get much action in real life so thought you'd try your luck in here?

Low self esteem so your here to try and boost it?

High ratio of men to women so you get the attention you wouldn't in real life?

Have no real friends or social life so have to fill that void by pretending you have friends in here?

Bored with your life?

Lonely?

Bored of same old routines with your partner so wanted to liven your sex life up?

Or just a dirty pervert who gets off on sex with strangers?

Which ones best apply to you ?

I like taking pics, showing them off, perving, chatting and maybe even meeting the odd lady now and then to get them naked and do unmentionable things with them.

I don't think I fit any neatly constructed definition.

For me it was convenience, there was always someone available whenever I wanted sex. It was for times I couldn't see anyone I knew already.

I did meet some who were really nice though, and maintained contact despite no longer wanting to fuck them.

None of the above and things have evolved. Initially it was just use men for sex and put them back in their box and close the lid, don't want the hassle in real life, now its just part f our social life but we rarely play with others .... just like to socialise with people with a similar mind set.

Despite the jokey delivery, this is a very interesting question.

I'm comparatively new to social media of any kind (my only two forays have been two sex sites, inc this one, in less than two years) and possibly this isn't the most representative population sample...

BUT

I've noticed that of all kinks, persuasions and reasons people come on these sites

Loneliness

Is the common denominator. I also think rates of mental health, alcohol or substance misuse, as well as people seeking whatever type of validation are over represented against the general population.

These are *very* broad brushstrokes I'm painting but it's very interesting.

Answers on a postcard.

When I was single, i don't know what kind of fabber I was, I guess I was using it to 'get my kicks', fab opened doors for me in a way in the real world it wouldn't, I had men that actually fancied me, which was a welcome change, as a larger woman in the real world in the pub or whatever, an attractive man would never in a million years try and talk to me as they wouldn't be seen dead talking to a fatty but here, there isn't really that 'discrimination' if that's the word I could use and I managed to pull of some rather attractive sexy men.

For example: in the pub the other week, there is a guy who himself says he is a bit of a man whore, very nice body and such and was all over every single woman, taken or not. The only two he wasn't was me and my larger than me friend (who incidentally does the same thing as I once did) which at the time I didn't think anything of but actually had I been single I would have got very upset by this and my friends face said it all.

So maybe I'm a fabber that was filling the void of something missing in my life and now I have a gorgeous man in my life, that void is filled (well an truly! )

Wouldn't say perverts you're just doing what you want without caring what others think about it which I find refreshing.

To be honest I remembered these forums as having a lot of debate a couple of years ago. But most of those people seem to have gone and instead it seems more dominated by airheads and people with little gangs of merry followers and inflated egos - and while I'm sure that's nice for them... Not as cynical or desperate as any of the OOs definitions.....so none of the above.

Initially just for a bit if fun as was introduced to another site by a "friend"(with benefits). Then to this site by a couple I met.

I don't do this instead of my life....this isn't my life and never has been nor will be. It is in addition...as I suspect it is for many.

Through this site I have met some great people...some of them now firm friends. Some still on the site...a fair few have left but are still friends, some of them more than that (lol).

Even though the OP has given a number of reasons they will not fit everyone, or even many? They all seem very negative reasons and most people I have met are far more positive about their use of the site and about themselves.

They're not the only options - just the most used at the mo.

People can do as they wish. Others can comment on them doing so. That's how a forum works ain't it?

"I might just stop posting. Being a relative newbie in forum terms I am no airhead, have no need of ego polishing and feel no need to blow smoke up peoples' assess. If those are the only options then I am sorry if my presence is bringing the overall level of debate down. As you all were before I bothered you with my one woman influx.

Luckily I have no problem bringing the level of debate down. I'll stay. "

As one of said influx of attention-seeking airheads lowering the tone, I'm not that easily got rid of.

I suspect there could be a hint of rose-tinted glasses going on. I don't know, I wasn't here back in the good old days when it was wall-to-wall quality debate and hilarity, but it seems entirely possible...

It was a "nicer" place... less vitriolic, less judgemental, more accepting. And I am afraid to say, more welcoming. Sorry to say that but true.

We had our ups and downs as the new lot do, and the clique back then was strong, but mostly people took the piss out of the sultans of swing and the banter remained light.

And I refer back to my original point. If newbies aren't welcome then what is the point of a forum?

Fair enough, as I said - I wasn't here. But it's also entirely possible that there were people who thought it was wank back then, and that's why they're no longer using them. It seems a little bit of a self-selecting sample to me...

All of the above

so a lonely, bored billy nomates who wants to be adventurous but has a phobia of the great outdoors, so he stays in his bedsit with only his cat for company? "

I am just saying how I experienced it as a newbie back then. That's all. Swinging has changed a lot since I began. There has always been a clique, however I didn't used to get insulting pm 's when I didn't agree with them.

Things change, I will carry on posting in the forums regardless, and if people don't like it.... well tough. I miss banter with old friends; making new ones on this current forum is more difficult (from my personal perspecyive) that's all...

Well, suggesting that none of us relative newcomers have anything to offer by way of debate compared to previous forumites and are airheads et al isn't exactly welcoming, is it? I've always told people that there are only cliques on here if you don't join in, yet this is one of the few threads ever where I have felt totally marginalised purely by virtue of not being an old hand at this swinging lark.

Firstly I can't figure out what swinging has to do with this particular part of discussion?

Secondly I made a comment in reference to somebody taking the piss about my claim to be here for 'intellectual debate'.

That comment didn't say all people on here are empty headed numpties. It didn't make any reference to whether people are welcome or not.

Funnily enough it's me that's new compared to most in this thread and as an (albeit returning) newbie two things I have noticed:

1. A tendency by people to argue in extremes (you said EVERYONE is an airhead etc. when that was never the case)

2. A tendency by many of the current most frequent posters to ignore new posters.

Why my _iews would in any way arse you when they so clearly don't usually, is odd.

Look the way I see it, my "fun" days on the forum are in the past. I used to love winding up the old clique and I swear some of them would have rammed my keyboard up my are if they could have.

I quite like winding up the new clique too and thankfully I use a mobile phone these days so less lube is required.

It's YOUR site as much as it's mine. I like helping the newbies, the single guys asking for advice (hell I get tired of people slamming single guys for "where am I going wrong" posts, when they have posted in the advice section). Or somebody says ooh a look at me post when someone asks for advice on their profile. Newsflash ALL posts are look at me posts.... even mine.

Just seems mighty angsty, round here at the moment.

I never said the forum was "better" I just said it was friendlier. When I first joined oh so many years ago, new people were welcomed all the time onto the forum and (I may well be wrong) it wasn't the same 30 people or so posting all the time. With newcomers trying to get involved, in the main, ignored (and no, I am not talking about me). I was never in a clique but as stated did enjoy calling them out from time to time. It never led to rude pm's.

As for saying I had a dig, telling me to like it or leave got my back up a little, this I admit.

Ok, I'll be honest here. I get no action in real life.

I've suffered from low self-esteem in the past but that's not why I'm here. Some wonderful people on Fab have really helped me conquer my issues with low self-esteem to the point where it doesn't really bother me now. I'm currently in a very good place.

I had no real friends or a social life before Fab, but again I didn't come on here so I could pretend I had friends. As it turns out I've genuinely found some really good friends through Fab. In truth that's been the highlight of me being here.

I've never been bored with life. I've had many dark days. Days where I've questioned whether I've even wanted to carry on. The fact that I have such a love for life was the only thing that actually kept me going.

Lonely? I've suffered soul crushing loneliness for most of my life. I certainly didn't come onto Fab to escape that.

I came on Fab because I like this lifestyle. I like the whole idea of this swinging mullarkey. I know it's who I am. I don't do vanilla. I want sex all the time. I love being around women. Sadly, I've found it really difficult to find women who are interested in me. I'm not the kind of guy that women will be immediately interested in, and around here that means I get overlooked. To say that's been frustrating would be an understatement. But it turns out I've learnt so much about myself during this long period of no action. Even though it initially was a disaster coming on here, I've finally turned a corner with it all. Things are now beginning to happen liked I hoped they would when I first joined.

That's the kinda post I mean

At no point have I insulted anyone else. I just said it was more welcoming back a few years. And trust me, it wouldn't have been a hero's welcome

I haven't said you aren't intelligent or witty.

What I have posted is MY experiences of the forum past and present. I am sorry if that causes offense

Telling a forum that it used to be better comes across, whether you meant it to or not, that the current people aren't good enough forumites for you. And it seems to me that others have taken it that way.

"That's the kinda post I mean" what does that mean if it's not a dig?

I never said the forum was "better" I just said it was friendlier. When I first joined oh so many years ago, new people were welcomed all the time onto the forum and (I may well be wrong) it wasn't the same 30 people or so posting all the time. With newcomers trying to get involved, in the main, ignored (and no, I am not talking about me). I was never in a clique but as stated did enjoy calling them out from time to time. It never led to rude pm's.

As for saying I had a dig, telling me to like it or leave got my back up a little, this I admit. "

I joined nearly 3 years ago so I'm not a newbie or an oldie I just blend in.

The forums back then were far from friendly imo. It felt past the clique stage borderline pack mentality from what I witnessed, took me ages to pluck up the courage to post in the fear of being nit picked to death.

However, over time some of those people moved on, newbies arrived & with them a new lease of life. I doubt I would have stayed if it hadn't of changed.

Again I'm not saying it's better but it needs to keep evolving to stay fresh.

I mistook friendlier for better As always with written 'speech' it is open to misinterpretation.

I don't believe there is a clique in here. I believe there are a bunch of people who tend to post more and interact better. But that's because of personal effort and personality.

I apologise for getting your back up a little. I tend to say what I think but without any intention of pissing anyone off.

I was a newcomer not that long ago and got ignored but that's how it is. Once people realise you're not a quick post and gone type of person then the friendliness begins I find

"I like taking pics, showing them off, perving, chatting and maybe even meeting the odd lady now and then to get them naked and do unmentionable things with them.

I don't think I fit any neatly constructed definition.

Same for us, except we meet with other couples and singles.

(And most of them are normalish rather than odd!) "

This sums me up too. I like meeting strangers who become friends, sometimes naked playing friends
