... kittens and puppies, whereas babies do nothing to me!
I never have that maternal instinct in me, and it is a good job I don't like kids!
I had a bet with someone at college when I was 19 that I would not have kids. I won, as I am now a gynaelogical fossil. However, I lost contact with him so I can't claim my pint of beer! Bummer!

I've never been a very maternal kind myself. I'm quite OCD and like things done in a certain way. I'm not sure if I could cope with the mess and the noise and the disruption and I'd hate myself if I ended up resenting my own kid.
On the other hand, I'm an only child and I'd feel guilty for depriving my parents of the chance to be grandparents - they'd be great. And the thought of knowing I'll never have someone call me mum does make me stop and think. |

Yeah my parents treat my Hound like a kid although I don't think they've quite given up yet.
I'm hoping that will extend to having her for the best part of 9 months when I'm away with work!! |

Pearl
ur a woman after my own heart.
When in conversation with female friends i often forget that my strong _iews about kids can be a little startling for the friends who either have kids or still want them.
And now we are all near 40, i also have to be especially sensitive to friends who are going through IVF.
It is a real strain to sit through conversations about kids, and try to act interested!!!
Im also really bad at remembering the kids names. Now the names of their dogs, i have no problem with!!!!
*im a badddd person*
Its good to know im not the only 'i dont want kids' woman out there!!
I wont join the freak show just yet

Do you get the looks of horror when you say you're not sure it's something you'll ever do? Followed by the assumption "you're just not ready yet".... |

I really feel for those who want to settle down and have kids, and their clocks are ticking away. And those who want kids but can't for whatever reasons.
My pets have enriched my life and they keep me sane.
Whether the same can be said about kids I shall never know. |

No, as those who know me would have realised I am unconventional right from the start! |

When I turned 16, I asked my parents for a vasectomy. I'm 33 in two weeks and I shall ask yet again as I have done every year since that first time. I really have no desire whatsoever to have children and would love to shoot blanks instead |

I asked for sterilisation when I went to the uni's sexual health clinic when I was 19, and was told no one in the NHS would entertain sterilising anyone that young.
I repeatedly asked for it every 5 years or so and received the same answer.
They finally said yes in 2009 when I was 44!
However, no need for that anymore - the Mirena coil is as good as, if not better than sterilisation! |

I had a falling out with a friend of mine as he didn't go to bed until 2, 3 in the morning waiting for his cats to come home. He can't sleep until they're all safely home. Find...no problem with that, but he had the cheek to say there was something wrong with me because I said I couldn't sleep until my daughter had come home.
Naturally, he doesn't have any children! |

I don't wait up for the cat as she is smart and can look after herself.
I did go round the neighbourhood and asked if anyone had seen her after she did not come home for 48h once.
She strolled in and demanded food and a cuddle, as if nothing had happened, typical!

Interesting! A friend of mine is hunting around for contraception with her boyfriend. She was asking me about it for some reason and I know nowt about the coil. Good to know it's done the trick for you! |

That was not available when I started to be sexually active at 19.
However, I have always had the coil, and it suited me fine, as hormonal contraceptions did not suit me. |

When i was little i was the one that babysat everyone and looked after all the babies. Everyone expected me to have at least six. 2 miscarriages and one healthy son i think im the luckiest person in the world. My sister has never had children, has never wanted them. She prefers to just travel the world with her husband. Different people want different things in life, but my heart goes to those that do want children but havent been able to have them |

I classed myself as NON maternal.
It would have stayed that way if it hadnt have been for penicillin.
Years ago i didnt know that the pill i was on was made inaffective by taking penicillin for my tonsils.
And then along came my son.
I didnt even think of the alternatives to having him.
He was and always will be a blessing , even though i dont see him as he in the usa.
Whats meant to be is. |

Aww bloody hell yes ! I'd sooner have a puppy any day of the week as opposed to a kid.
For some unknown reason, babies and children do absolutely nothing for me but the strange thing is that they love me Maybe they are pulling the piss because they sense that I don't like them.
Gimme a dog, 2 dogs, 25 dogs any day, but please keep those slavvering, shitty, pukey babies away from me bleuuuuuuuggggggh |
