Correct (ish) a bridge is a musical phrase (typically a few bars), that links 2 parts of a song together. So it could be a link between a verse and a chorus, but if it's short, this is typically called a pre-chorus.
Kinda hard to put into words, but you know when you hear one. I'm sure James Brown (amongst others) says "Take it to the bridge" in a lot of performances - so check out his stuff and you should get the idea |

(just listened to the song - it has 3 bridges, one after the first refrain when it modulates by a tone,(changes key), then another after the second refrain which leads to the middle passage of syncopated keyboards, then another to reprise the main theme and modulate another semi tone) |
