Is it just me that has a morbid fascination of them, not in a sense of I want to follow in their footsteps but just in a way of a psychology point of view what led them to commit such horrific acts.... |

Not just you. I'm interested in serial killers, psychopaths and gang mentality - football hooligans and the like.
I'm 'lucky' enough to come across two of the above types of people in my work and I love talking to them. |

Yes, I must admit they fascinate me too. My mother is interested in all that kind of stuff so I grew up surrounded by it. I'm a bit of an armchair expert on serial killers. Maybe not the best thing to admit to as a single guy on here. |

I am fascinated by this stuff. Forensics, serial killers, crime.
I can't get my head around how people can do such evil things but I do love watching documentaries on the subject.

There has been a series of documentaries on one of the Freeview channels fairly recentky(I forget which one) They have been very fascinating. |

I've always thought Ted Bundy was a fascinating case. He had almost celebrity status during his case because he was so charming & well presented not what would be expected of a seriel killer, rapist, kidnapper & necrophile! |

Not just you. I'm interested in serial killers, psychopaths and gang mentality - football hooligans and the like.
I'm 'lucky' enough to come across two of the above types of people in my work and I love talking to them."
In my profession I have met murderers and gang members they come across as very "nice" personable people however there was one that actually sent shivers down my spine. |

Yes I am. Also with high school massacres and kids who have commited horrific crimes. There's nothing wrong with it. Us "normal" humans can't really put ourselve's into the mindset of a serial killer so there's nothing wrong with reading into it to try and understand them. On a side note, Dexter is easily my favourite TV show |

Have a look for this book on Amazon,
it's called "Whoever fights Monsters" by Robert Ressler "Face-to-face with some of America's most terrifying killers, FBI veteran and ex-Army CID colonel Robert Ressler learned form then how to identify the unknown monsters who walk among us--and put them behind bars" he coined the term serial killer and even joined the search for the yorkshire ripper. i highly recommend it.  |

Serial Killers interest me much less than those who've committed lesser crimes and might be psychologically shifted.
Interestingly, "lifers", including many who have committed the most horrific crimes, are often seen as the sanest inmates in the Criminal Justice System. |

I had a close friend that murdered his mum and dad been documentry programmes on him and its fascinating because he led a complete double life. I spent nights drinking with him on my own and even after it all happened not only me but others that knew him well never had any suspicion that he wasnt who he was portraying himself as but its interesting what the media portray and wnat you actually know |

There's thousands of serial killers walking around free as a bird as they have committed their crimes and covered their tracks well.
Chances are at some stage in our lives we will have probably come in contact with one.
hundreds of thousands of people go missing without trace every year.
You telling me that most arnt the victims of a murderer?

yes and the strange thing is he had a "look" everyone took too chubby with a friendly face you know you have some friends you just want a cuddle from he was like that but of cause all the pictures in the news and everything made him look like a murderer anyway it was headlines on news at ten for a couple of nights as his dad was head of ici |

Judging by the amount of documentaries about them you're not alone!
Was morbidly fascinated the first time I saw 'The Killing Of America' as documentaries like that weren't commonly watched before we all had the net n youtube.
Can't remember the guys name but do remember that he was in court on TV when he came out with one of the creepiest things I heard from that doc.....
Lawyer..."Why did you touch her on the breast with the pliers?"
Serial killer...as cold and dead pan as can be..."To shock her with the cold metal"  |

Two whole bookshelves full of serial killers, kidnappers, rapists, child abusers. Fascinating. Didn't someone famous once say that if enough people were educated on the details of these cases then we could see the signs and stop them before they began? I've met murderers (not serial killers, as they tend not to come through my line of work!), psychopaths and recently a lot of gang members. You are right, they can be very personable people, take you right in. When I was a bit green at my current role, I'd find it really difficult to marry what their crime was to the person sat in front of me. Now I'm a bit more jaded about it all. |

I am fascinated. Recently watched See No Evil. Film about the moors murders. Excellent,and from what I've researched an accurate adaption.
Ian Brady intrigues me. Hindley less so. She was just an evil witch. His mimic.
Psychopath Brady was the master mind.
My theory is their relationship was not the catalyst. I think he had murdered before, and saw her as malleable. Manipulated her into being his advocate through her infatuation.
Its not an excuse for her. She was as evil and as twisted as he was. She could of stopped him long before David Smith did.

Very clever and evil guy,murdered his grandparents when he was 15 and served only 5 years after convincing psychiatrists he was rehabilitated!
The second guy is equally evil and there is a lot more information about him and his crimes,they even made a recent Hollywood film about him.
Even so I got his name wrong in my earlier post! It's Kuklinski.......not Kaplinski. |

I like reserching about the Retendon murders where the self styled firm the 'Essex boys' were murdered down an alley way in their land rover.
A few weeks earliyer their batch of e caused 2 deaths one of tgem was Leah Betts. |

Football hooligans tend to be men stuck in dead end jobs with nothing to dedicate there lives to out of work, hence the fighting.
I remember 2 Man Utd so called hooligans kicking off with me because I dared to wear my rugby top in a pub with football on. Let's just say they didn't do it again.

most murders are committed by people who are not criminals, have never committed a crime in their life. The murder will usually be their only crime.serial killers and psychopaths of which i include psychiatrists, psychologists and criminologists are a different kettle of fish.The professionals in there are the least interesting of the bunch.

i have an unhealthy amount of books an serial killers...one discusses the demographics,of the people who buy books etc...and suggests its because serial killers are the modern day equivalent of the 'bogeymen'...faceless, seemingly motiveless, and as they are something you cannot protect yourself from, almost otherworldly...it sounded very convincing to me... |

3 hollywood movies were made about them.

the ironic thing and the thing that made it so difficult for police is that everyoneand any one who wanted him dead was heading or in the near vicinity of Retendon.
The owner of Sugerhut was also linked his alliby was that he was in Rettendon planing to hijake a lorry. |
