Worrying new social media trend

Since I updated my phone, I am getting people who appear on my blocked list on whatsapp reappearing on my Facebook page as "people you may know". This is worrying. They are blocked for a reason. I don't want to see their faces again anywhere. Presumably I'm also popping up on their Facebook feed. How can I stop this guys? Need help.

Have you provided Facebook with your phone number?

If you've added your mobile to Facebook it will pull info from there, also don't Sync your contacts.

Facebook now owns WhatsApp. So if you have the Facebook app on your phone and/or have added your phone number it automatically tries to join up your contact lists from one to the other by suggesting them on your add as friends list. So get rid of your phone number on Facebook and if you use it, don't use the app version on your phone. Or just delete your Facebook profile.

Try privacy settings. Sometimes it's easier to sort it out on the browser as opposed to mobile site.

I've had this a couple of times, a guy I used to chat to I particularly popped up a few weeks back and my heart popped out my chest, not because I still desired him but because I thought I stopped all trace of him, I even have a new number that isn't attached to Facebook or has ever been!!

Best way to do it is to remove those people from your contacts on your phone. Whatsapp still blocks the numbers, and facebook no longer knows that you've ever known them (although it may take a while for facebook to 'forget')

This suggestions on facebook come from your contacts list in your phone, amongst other things.

Hope that helps xx

Have a look through your privacy settings and see if you can find anything that will unsync your contacts.

As a general rule its best to give Facebook as little information as possible its stated aim is to make the world more open and connected and it will use anything you provide to do that.

Thanks guys. I've also found it's going through businesses that are in my contacts list like my hairdresser and estate agents and recommending their employees to me! How embarrassing is that for both of us? It really is a step too far. I don't want to see professionals I deal with getting wasted at the weekend.
