Wrong on so many levels I don't know where to even start.
That list and the question of the top 20 British singles is like when you move house, and you have to put all your records and cds back into order, its not something you can just DO! It takes planning |

"wonderwall is the best song that's ever come out of Britain?
God shoot me now "
Bang. Bang. Second shot for me.
(Even that song 'Bang Bang' was better than wonderwall...!) |

A while 20 or so years airbrushed out of history then? Considering none of the 90s bands would have been in existence without their late 70s influences obviously hasn't been considered |

What is the criteria......?
If we are talking about influence we seem to have forgotten the whole social geo political awareness thing that came out of "Do they know it's Xmas"....it may not have been Shakespeare with a tune but it certainly changed the world.
Alternatively, if it is musical extravagance, what about Tubular Bells?
Or if we are talking simply a good tune, then this list is a little short of anything other than a simple 30 year time frame........in other words, it draws from a very small period in out culture. |

"I ain't even heard of number 11.
You're kidding me. It wasn't off the radio when it came out! "
I'm afraid I don't listen to music radio.
My wireless isn't good enough for that. |

"I'm going to put together my own top twenty, then you can all pick it apart, and then I can tell you why your wrong lol "
This is the problem isn't it. Music is so subjective. But the list on the OP is clearly put together by middle aged men from Manchester. |

"Farcical !
Next to nothing from the sixties .
Nor the 70s
And how many from oasis ?
What a joke
"
I think it just highlights the lack of "breadth" in the Radio X audience ! |

Where are The Who?
Where are Pink Floyd?
Where are Led Zeppelin?
Where are New Order?
Where are Blur?
Where are Fleetwood Mac?
Where are The Jam?
Where are The Clash?
Where are Radiohead?
Where are The Cure?
That's for starters. Bit of a lazy list isn't it? As compiled by Noel Gallagher! |

I just went on the Radio X site to have a look at the top 100 and got this - "Sorry, we've got a bit of a technical problem! Try coming back later"
That is due to a cyber attack by people disgruntled at the top 20. |

It's a list voted for by XFM listeners. What did you all expect?
I'm sure that if we had a list from Heart FM or BBC Radio Norfolk there'd be plenty of "Knights in White Satin" or whatever |

Don't get me wrong, I like all the songs on the list, but there are better songs, and in some cases there are better sings on the same albums as the ones on the list (if that makes sense).
I think they just took the first 20 tracks from a mix tape someone made them at art college |

I'm sorry, have you been down the garden center and had a listen to some ornate roses that are made of stone? Because that's the only way I can fathom the statement " the stone roses are bollocks" or are you just angry that shade and wizard are not in the list?or maybe you were honing for 5star or musical youth |

The most interesting thing is to look at the best selling singles of all time .
You won't find any by Oasis in the top 40 .
This list is very much a personal selection done by listeners from a selected region I would guess .
