We organised a meet today... spoke on here.. then on phone.. etc... told him what we like and what he would like ... then booked a nice hotel..
And guess what. .. He had to cancel because his "son hurt his ankle at school".... what's the best excuse you have been given for a late cancellation?
(Before the drama queens get involved we are aware of the possibility the excuse may be genuine but this is just a bit of fun)

At least you got an excuse!! In our single profile days we would often arrange a meet with us both, exchange messages on here, texts etc...then no show, phones switched off!! Not even a feeble attempt at an excuse |

"My favourite* was the guy who was still in bed with the woman he'd picked up when out the night before our meet.
* most infuriating!
At least it sounds honest. Annoying, but honest."
True!
I usually get the sick kid/last minute working/flat tyre excuses. Nothing original. |

"Schools are closed for Easter aren't they? Lol "
It's weird up here.
Some of Hemel area are off school now but some of Watford area aren't off until next week, I think?
It's been confusing the Hell out of us! |

In a kind of reverse of the thread, two reasons I've had to cancel or delay a meet seem like wild excuses but are true.
First was my sister blended her finger in a food processor and I needed to take her to A&E
Second was that my car was broken into and the battery was nicked from it ! Seriously, didn't take anything else, didn't steal the car (probably only because how I park my works van blocked my car in), but stole the sodding battery !!!

"I rarely get an excuse..
Usually just no shows.....11 since November.... "
I usually get something between the two.
They're enthusiastic, keen and in regular contact until the day before the meet. Then they vanish. They stop logging in to whichever site we arranged the meet on, (usually, though occasionally they carry on logging on but ignore messages), and don't reply to any messages/texts.
I take this as the meet won't be happening, so don't get ready and go.
A day or two after the day of the meet, they reappear. Sometimes they'll come up with a dreadful excuse and ask to reschedule. Sometimes they try to pretend nothing happened. Once one tried to convince me I had the date wrong, (I didn't).
I'm getting reasonably good at working out which guys will do this so I agree to meet, refuse to discuss any gory details and wait and see if I can guess when they'll vanish. |

"Would anyone believe "I'm on day 19 of my period"??? "
Actually, in some circumstances yes. I'm not going to elaborate though because some of the men have sensitive dispositions when it comes to "women's matters" |

I had arranged a meet (already had a social) and then had to cancel as I genuinely had to go to a+e.
Infuriating and one of those situations where you realise you may not get another chance because it sounds so far-fetched! |

Mini-pill? If so, persevere. Took me a couple of months to even out and it's been brilliant ever since I did. |

I had arranged a social and I really did get an emergency admission into hosp so asked if I could make it another day.
Wanted to know which hosp, which ward I was in. I was in 3 days and had 7 litres of fluids pushed in.
Sometimes you just can't win. Lol.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Back when I was in a couple we had another "couple" (I didn't speak to either of them and he didn't speak to the female) keep us waiting all evening.
First they were running late. Then they had a car accident. Then the car broke down. Then they had got lost.
On my own I had a friend I saw on a regular(ish) basis who just didn't show up. He fell asleep. A few weeks later he started a thread about no-shows claiming he'd never let anyone down. [If you're back on the site or just reading the forum from afar you know you were forgiven.] |

I couldn't get to work once as my street was evacuated at 5.30am due to a van on fire, full of gas bottles. No one at work believed me when I phoned in.
Then they saw the news report on the telly and my interview with a news reporter. |

Very well worded. I've given up getting ready now.
You are quite right, they seem to dissapear, yet manage to get online, yet not bother to make contact.
I dont give my number out anymore, so that i have the mails of when they or i agree to a meet.
Yet, even when reported, thier profiles still remain.
Its these creatures that make fun sites like this a misery, and give the good guys a poor name x |

It doesn't make me miserable. I don't count on anything until it happens.
I usually know which will vanish after a few messages and I'm rarely wrong. I give them the benefit of the doubt, in case I'm wrong but I don't invest anything in it so I'm not disappointed if it doesn't happen.
A lot are just after a fantasy meet - dirty chat describing what I'd wear and what I'd do - so they can wank over it. I don't chat specifics about meets beforehand though. If they want to know what I'll wear and what will happen, they need to meet me.
Interestingly, I've not found verifications make any difference in this. Both verified and unverified men do it, including men who clearly do meet and have done recently. |

I once had a guy turn up 5 hrs late for a meet at mnews which I was furious about. Turned out he had had a better offer on his way to mine. I threw him out. |

The only one that annoyed me was the guy who said he'd decided to go Xmas shopping first and now couldn't be arsed...yes, those are his exact words. He then couldn't understand why I didn't want to reschedule! |

Tbh all the reasons I have had which hasn't been many have been genuine (floods, and work issues)
Tbh I have only missed one meet which was due to being told to stay late at work and it was to late to get over to hers
I must say I have even written my car off and still got to a meet |

Why is his son at school? It's half term...
Sounds like a poor excuse to me. |

Messaged us the night before saying his mum had died on a flight back from south Africa. One said his daughter broke her arm as he was on the way to meet us. Really want to give people the benefit of the doubt but ffs I struggle to believe people sometimes. |

Some people use a family member tragedy or accident as an excuse as they know you can't really say anything to them apart from .... Oh dear that's awful and I'm so sorry etc message me another time them.
Say anything else on the lines of....You lying bastard you really expect me to believe your bullshit excuse ??
You then run the risk of being classed as a psycho without any compassion? ?

You've no obligation to reschedule.
Offer your condolences but decline to reschedule. You don't owe them anything. If you doubt their honesty, trust your gut. |

Competent liars fakes and fantasists are extremely good at knowing the right things to say to avoid confrontation and their lies being exposed.
You just have to be one step ahead and competent at spotting those types of people.
Not always easy though.

Many times for a dogging meet we have had guys say they turned up , but it looked too busy so they left again !
Sometimes they have supposedly travelled quite some distance too .
The majority of the time we know it's a feeble excuse as the spot we use has been virtually empty all evening ....
Oh and there is this clever little thing which shows the distance someone is from you on here ....
