Tenerife for a week in May. First sun holiday ever!
I don't do heels, makeup or fancy pants clothes and I own one bikini that's been worn three times in eight years.
I've got some lightweight dresses, sarong, cotton oversized blouse, Birkenstocks, and a cardi so far.
What else would you regard as essential? Any travellers tips? |

OMG, I'd love to travel that lightly but I couldn't go anywhere without my moisturiser & shampoo & a nail file.
I also always take my E111 for Europe, Insurance docs if world wide, a photocopy of my passport & vaccination list & the address of the British Embassy where ever I'm going. |

Went to British Columbia last August for a month, with just hand luggage and a hard case for a guitar which went in the hold.
Anything else I needed, I bought out there. Clothes I got from charity shops, then donated them back at the end (except underwear obviously). |

Get the suncream here. Don't want to get burnt while out shopping for it.
I travel light. Usually only take credit card. Got stopped before at customs for not having any luggage mind you. |

Toiletries I'll get there but vaccinations for Tenerife? Please tell me I don't need those. |

"Lipsalve, pen and paper, chewing gum ( for the flight) beach bag. "
I've got a bum bag type thing I use for camping trips, I'm going to take that. I'm pretty sure that I'll last about an hour in the sun, then I'll be bored.
Or crispy. |

I rarely check luggage in for an airline to lose, so I stick to the bare minimum. If forecast is hot then even fewer clothes are needed. Money, cards, passport, makeup, enough clothes for few days that can be laundered and extra purchased if needed. Give stuff away or post home, to ensure you travel light on your return. |
