Cyprus is important strategically for us. I'm not surprised that something has happened there. Hope the hostages get released without any injuries/fatalities.

i seem to remember about ten years ago the BBC had some articles showing some documents comming to light on this which make your statement a grey area. |

You seem to have missed out important conclusions such as the Ugandans being complicit in the hijacking and the important conclusion at the end

For a price anything can get on the airport, speaking about foreign airports that is. It was brought up when IS got a bomb on the Russian plane, also friends have told me that they have paid a fee to the security to get through security quickly and they never got checked. |

Read it and realised I'd seen it before.
All it says is suspicions, although obviously there wouldn't be any hard facts to substantiate the suspicions.
The most telling comments are the last two paragraphs;
"On balance it seems that there was a culpable degree of collusion between President Amin and the hijackers, and that the president's attitude made it much easier for the hijackers to persist in their demands."
The file does not make it clear how seriously the government took the claim that Israel also may have aided the hijackers."
So, it "was" Amin and the Palestinians and someone thought Mossad "might" had a hand in it.
Hardly conclusive.
Back to the OP, the hijacker sounds disturbed, I hope no one comes to harm and this is resolved peacefully.
