I have just checked my bank account and two days on the trot last week two amounts of money that i wouldnt spend have come out of my account for tescos. Now i am always in tesco using my card but this is money i wouldnt normally spend in there and certainly not two days on the trot. Could i find out what was purchased? |

"I would phone your bank and ask what time the card was used"
This .. As soon as you spot any transaction you don't recognise flag it with them as potential fraud. Sometimes fraudsters will start with small amounts to see if still works then hit you with the big stuff. Worse case get the card stopped and another reissued. |

"And ive just checked the dates its when we where away last week so i know i was nowhere near tesco"
If your going off your Internet banking it sometimes trips me up also. Like pending transactions or the dates will be a day after I bought something. Probably nothing to worry about and it's just taken a while to come through! |

Check that the transaction date is the same as the date it's posted (showing that it's debited ) to your account, some online banking sites give you that detail. Can be that they didn't process card transactions for a certain number of days and then did them all at once |

Tesco bulk there payments to save money, might be 2 days before they are presented (payments is my game) so if your overdrawn go to tesco, do a contactless payment, it will be accepted |

Not really advisable as the bank can then charge you for a forced payment transaction, unauthorised overdraft charges , debit interest etc etc |

The one I hate is the "pay at pump"
It deducts a pound as a verification, and then the transaction sits in pending payments for a couple of days
You never quite know when it's actually going to be deducted from your balance |

Lost and stolen card lines are open 24/7 if you do it now your new card request can start. Also if you believe your card is being fraudulently used then there's bugger all to stop it being used tonight and taking more money from your account which you will need to dispute.
I can't stress how important it is to not wait if you think your card security has been compromised |

Can also depend on the type of card and the amount spent which causes issues like this, had to deal with tons of complaints about card transactions when I worked in a Bank. |

"Tesco are a pain for the money not leaving your account for up to a week later xx" but this is the thing im in nearly everyday and all the days up to and since have gone out normally. Know way have i built up spending £180 in tesco before theyve decided to take it. That would be about six weeks worth of transactions

If more money is taken out between now and the morning and the bank found out you knew something odd was going on they may say those transactions are your own fault. I would phone the 24/7 line to let them know |

The pound earmark on your account just confirms that the card is valid and the PIN was entered correctly, its then superseded by the actual transaction, the £1 never leaves your account.
The banks say that as you made the transaction, it's your responsibility to know that that money will be coming out of your account and to allow for it, even if it's not showing as an earmarked (pending) transaction |

It happened to me a last year, Bank contacted me about a few suspicious transactions,
I only used it once that day in a local shop, I knew it was them as the item I bought never showed up on my transactions, But the same day 2 mobile top ups was bought for 50 pound each, Then they tried to buy a TV from another shop for 900 pound, That's when the bank stopped them, I got all of my money back, I never found out what happened, In fact I'm going to contact them and ask them |

It could be these new wireless "touch" payment devices - your card just has to be in the vicinity of another customer's till just as they are trying to pay, and it can lock onto your card instead.
In fact this "electronic pickpocketing" is already such a worry that North Wales Police are supplying special slip-cases to keep your cards in, and are advising everyone to buy and use them.
They are very cheap to buy and I've already got covers for all my cards.

Phone your bank who will likely have a 24/7 support line. Criminals often use deductions of small amounts when testing accounts for more major fraud. The bank can then have your account on alert status, giving them the responsibility of surveillance and transaction suspension and rejection.

My bank phones me if my card is used more than three times in a day, if I access my account from a computer not in my home or office and send me a new card if they spot any "unusual" transaction.
I'd have contacted my bank immediately not check in with the Inspector Clouseau's on here! |

Some card fraud is on a huge scale across thousands of cards at a time, and they take very small amounts so you might not notice, you haven't said how much it is but if its small amounts more than a one-off, call the Police card-fraud team. |

That wouldn't show as Tesco. It would show as a cash machine withdrawal.
It's more likely to be cashback making the amount up to an unusual number. |

BUT why would you get cash back 3 times over 2 days? You'd just use the cash machine? It's very rare we need cash these days? Unless.... (here's where the plot thickens) MAYBE she needed the cash back 3 different times because she's buying drugs on tick?!?!?! Untraceable! I knew it! GOT IT!!!!! |
