Creatures with more than seven legs.
Also heights, but that's not quite as irrational as anyone who actually knows me can vouch for the fact that I am bloomin' clumsy and therefore liable to fall off! |

Down escalators - I know it's because I was pushed onto one by an impatient adult as a child. I have to breathe deeply whenever I get on one, but make myself do it.

"I was talking to a lady and she fears mice.. teeny tiny mice..
Care to share yours.?" It has gone now but I used to have a proper phobia for hearing about, or even worse seeing, animals getting hurt.
Couldn't watch the telly, couldn't watch the adds, couldn't listen to the radio, and if out and about I feared for seeing dogs in the streets with a limp or similar. Pidgeons too even, and they are almost all a bit crippled in the city!
It was quite debilitating and life is a lot easier now it has eased off. |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
Women in general.
I get tongue tied and break out into a sweat if I have to talk to the cashier in the supermarket.
That's a major part of the reason why I'm a recluse |

Me too!
The underground is like being in hell for me - and I really hate the ones in department stores where they're up 5 floors with glass so you can see all the way down
I'm also scared of heights which probably has something to do with it!
I never used to be - it's old age |

I don't have irrational fears really.
I spend most of days off work with phone plugs out and ignoring the door bell if it rings....... I love days alone and I would HATE uninvited guests to see me on a slobbing out day. |

Spiders...obviously
totally stupid ones
Water at night (rivers, sea, canals) scared a dead body will reach out and get me
Looking out the window at night in case someone is looking in... Even applies on first floor and up
Mirrors, in case my face changes into a corpse or there's a ghost behind me
Basically all my fears are from watching far too many horror films |

"being mistakenly pronounced dead and then buried alive
then waking up...
im freaking out just typing this stuff"
Shit I forgot about that. I couldn't watch that film where the bloke is buried. ........
Not irrational though is it... to NOT want to die in a dark box. |

Touching cheese. The stuff makes my skin crawl and how people can bring themselves to eat it mystifies me! When making my little nieces a sandwich, I have to try holding the block inside the wrapper and then cut it, before stabbing the slice with the knife end to drag it to the bread. All the while trying not to touch it and resist the urge to vom! |

"Wasps. I lose all control when I see one.
Even seeing a picture of one makes my heart race. "
I was stung by a wasp when I was nine. To this day I dread wasps. I was returning to the office from a meeting and passed the shop outside of which I was stung. My mum went inside and bought some Dettol to put on it.
I'm 55...I should get over it! |

I have irrational fears of being abandoned or losing those dear to me.
I have always had to work very hard to keep them in check... But sometimes I can't.
It comes from my childhood and I know why... I also know that your more likely to lose someone if your constantly stressing about it... But.. The fear is very real to me x |

I know how you feel have to avoid news stories or animal rescue programmes even the charity ads. I get really upset .there's a wild stray cat by daves. Everyone feeds her and looks healthy apart from fleas /ticks but I worry about her .even after seeing her beat up a a large dog ...daft I know . |

I'm not great with heights and really don't like the down escalators so I loiter at the top and wait for someone else to get on then get on right behind them. |

I have a great fear of being hurt, of being humiliated or let down. It's the worst kind fear because it's so emotionally crippling. It tends to keep you down in life's shadows when all you're really longing for is the sun. Thankfully, I'm not afraid of the dark... |

I'm claustrophobic so lifts are an ultimate no go unless I have to. I'm terrified of clowns, ALL spiders but especially big ones and putting my feet over the end of the bed at night
Too many horror movies as a kid I think

"Spiders - seems to be a common one.
Worms - makes gardening really difficult.
Heights - if it's a building or a cliff edge I get this compulsion to throw myself off! Wtf that all about? "
Same here, if I cross a bridge I just want to throw all my belongings over the side. I'm not phobic of heights but I get this |

I used to have a debilitating phobia of spiders. I'm cured now after my GP referred me to a psychologist for CBT. It's the best thing I've ever done. I don't like them much now but the fear has gone and I can live without the panic attacks and sixth sense. |

That's not irrational. They sting. You can die if they sting your lips or tongue. "
True. But I've never been stung in my life so can't understand why I'm like this.
I think panicking seeing a picture of one is irrational. |

Lol. I'm pushing 40 and am such a baby I have to get random neighbors to deal with any of them. |

Oh, daft perhaps. But I find it comforting now knowing that I'm not alone in this |

"Storm Troopers and Darth Vader.
Damn, that's a meet with you out the window! I'm a member of a SW costume troop! "
They honestly terrify me. I have a full panic attack and meltdown.
Once, my ex pretended to be away but was really in the house. I woke up in the middle of the night restrained with him on top of me dressed as Darth Vader. It was an attempt to cure me. I didn't speak to him for days. |
