I'm not Christian, plus I'm too sick to leave the house so just resting."
I did think about going to the pub but having a nice roast instead. |

I'm very confused.
There have been a couple of threads started expressing upset that the word Easter has apparently been removed from chocolate confectionery. There are people on here being rude about people who practice Christianity and claiming its nonsense but nobody seems to be arguing with them.

I had a small bit of chocolate. I only do churches for weddings, Christenings and funerals.
My overriding belief is that all religion is based on a small amount of fact that has, over the years, evolved into a large amount of fantasy and is primarily there as a means of social control. But that's a debate for another day and another thread.
However I do respect that many will disagree with me and believe in all things written in the Bible, or Qur'an or other religious texts / teachings. So for those that believe in the Easter story, I hope you have a relaxing and peaceful day x |

Neither... Yet
Chocolate is cooling in the fridge and will be scoffed soon
Not religious so no church, but shame on those being rude to those who are and did go.
We don't believe, but respect the choices of those who do.
Happy Easter

I think most modern religions borrowed pagan festivals to make them more acceptable. |

From tinternet..
Oestre/Easter
Although the Christian festival of Easter celebrates the torture and death of Jesus on a cross and, especially, his alleged resurrection, and has links to the Jewish Passover, most people, including Christians, unknowingly celebrate its pagan influences, including the bunny, a symbol of fertility, and colored eggs, representing the sunlight of spring.
It took over 300 years before Christians established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon following the March Equinox at the First Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E. The pagan Easter, however, was celebrated long before Christianity (although the festival went by many names).
In the 8th century, Christian scholar Bede claimed in his book, De temporum ratione, (The Reckoning of Time) that Easter derived from the Saxon Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). The ancient Saxons in Northern Europe worshiped the Goddess Oestre at the time of the Spring Equinox. The Goddess Easter represents the sunrise, spring-time and fertility, the renewal of life.
Pagan Anglo-Saxons made offerings of colored eggs to her at the Vernal Equinox. They placed them at graves especially, probably as a charm of rebirth. (Egyptians and Greeks were also known to place eggs at gravesites).
Only later did the Christians pilfer the name for themselves and graft their religion onto a pagan celebration. |

Why would anyone want to tell their boss, their friends and their neighbours the details of their sex life ... even if you aren't a swinger, do you really share those details? I think if you told your workmates they would report you for something. Plus really, do you value your privacy or what? Why tell everyone your business, be it your sexual business or what you had for dinner, what time you went to the toilet, etc. If you are one of those people who divulges all of this detail, you have to wonder why the break room empties when you arrive. |

No i didnt go to church. I dont practise religion, however, i have fond memories of going to church as a child. My grandma was very religous was on the church council for 60 years. We went to everything and all the childrens services, i loved it and the story of jesus, my mum was a sunday school teacher but we never had it forced down our throats. I had all the childs bible stories, but thats all it ever was to me a story i never had any belief in it. This week i found for me the epitom of easter this week on a walk, wild primroses, new lambs and to my joy i foraged and found some wild violets which i didnt think id find as its still a bit early but they are my fondest memories as a child. The strange thing though my mum married a catholic and in 1962 that was a big thing and that would bloody put anyone off for life my dads attitude |

Wow you don't seem as open as your profile suggests.
Yes I went to church today. I have faith in something and that's how I choose to observe it.
In general I believe that it's important to be kind. To be generous. To be understanding and forgiving.
I think its important to be loving , treat people well and respect other their beliefs and choices.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to be unkind. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Easter derives from the Germanic Oester, a pagan deity.
It is a celebration of the spring equinox and the advent better weather, longer days and hopefully a bountiful harvest.
It has nothing to do with a beardy weirdy in a frock and his imaginary friend.
Happy Oester |
