The land of grey peas and bacon

Sorry vegetarians and vegans of fab, I need help though in cooking a leg of lamb, now I don't really eat lamb as they are just too cute and after watching my farming life... but my parents love lamb, and I'm playing host tomorrow.

I have a leg of lamb now do I cook it as per packet instructions or do I slow roast it with garlic etc for a few hours on a low heat...my mor doesn't like her meat pink..so I'm handing it over to you guys for assistance

See if you can find the recipe Mary Berry showed on her programme this week, it involved piercing the lamb and inserting garlic cloves and lots of wine but I'm not sure on details. It looked delicious though.

The best way to cook lamb is to slow roast it.. The longer the better then it just falls off the bone and melts in the mouth....

I'm doing lamb shanks braised in red wine tomorrow... Very much looking forward to that

Definitely slow roast, rub olive oil into the leg season with sea salt ( not to much though ) then add sprigs of fresh Rosemary and thyme cover with loose tin foil and cook at about 120 for three hours then take the foil off for another 30 mins, also a good tip is to put a dish of water in bottom of the oven it will ensure the lamb doesn't dry out but keep topping this up as it evaporates xx

Chops you probably already know this but.....Make sure you make little pockets into the meat with a sharp knife so you can get the garlic rosemary and any other flavourings your using into the flesh.

Loosely cover in foil then roast in preheated oven on 180 for 25-30 mins per 1lb rough estimate but should be about right.

I'm cooking lamb for the first time too... I've just sealed it in a hot pan and put it in a Pyrex dish covered in red wine with garlic in the oven for at least 3 hours. And I can see all the little lambs running around from my Windows! I won't be eating it!
