Not necessarily. Auto correct covers up a lot of bad spelling anyway.

A combination of text speak & bad spelling in a message would probably result in me not reading it as it wouldn't be clear to me.

Aside from that being the 'grammar police' is more off putting.

From the amount of threads on this subject, no you're not the only one.

Bad spelling / grammar doesn't really bother me but then I'm far from perfect myself in that department.

I'm with you. But my spellchecker works as an enemy agent!

You know, I'm sure if Douglas Adams was still alive he'd have written a brilliant book about the end of humanity all caused by a series of unfortunate events triggered by Spellchecker getting involved where it wasn't wanted.

Just curious and it obviously doesn't apply to phone users but when you see a red underline while typing doesn't it make one think that the word may be wrongly spelled? Then you right click and the correct spelling is the top option? Why does that not also apply to the dyslexic?

Curious not judgmental question.

I know it's going off topic, but I saw a dyslexia researcher on TV saying that dyslexics don't have dyslexia if they are taught pictograms (like in Mandarin). I suppose it's really obvious but profound nevertheless. An incredible thing, the human brain.

As it 'appens I've also noticed that the spell-check gives American spelling as in Colour=Color

As long as I can understand it it doesn't really bother me. However I do think that it's worth making the effort to put at least enough punctuation in a post to make what you're saying clear.

I to am dyslexic and if I can make the effort to make what I want to say clear I really can't see why others can't.

Hmmm?

No period termination at the end of your title. Malformed first sentence. Incorrect use of an Ellipsis. Twice.

Exclamation is not needed after the word excused.

But I think we all got your meaning. I feel perhaps it's more important to see the message rather than examine and be critical of the container it is in.

Nope , not in the slightest .

Some of our veris are not well written , but the people were awesome . And for us that's what matters - the people we meet .

Some may not be the most literate , but we couldn't care less . Their company and the fun we had is what really matters .

Do you read it out loud

As long as I can understand what is that is trying to be conveyed, then I don't have a problem with it. I don't like or use text speak apart from the occasional lol, but it wouldn't put me off meeting someone.

On here, I put ma instead of my, and yer instead of your, because that's how I speak. If I was writing an official letter I would spell and punctuate everything correctly

Grammar nazis, my favorite subject, those people who claim that people are just lazy, and can't be arsed to write properly, only to say if its not writen properly, I can't be arsed to read it,

so would a grammar Nazi, rather meet a man with a tiny cock, but excellent grammar?

When I read, its a reflex to read every word twice, otherwise it makes no sense, I find some configurations if letters difficult to spell (sense being one if them) and words with double letters in them, I never can remember if its two it one, the English language is full of pitfalls, and easy mistakes to.make, and when your brain doesn't process letters and words and numbers the same way as everyone else, and you have someone going all superior on you, its tiring, I would fund it much easier to type in text speak, I can type fast and easily that way, but I don't.

so next time you want to tell me about uncles wanking off on a horse or what ever you say.

not everybody cares, and in the grand scheme if things, its all of little importance
