Tape 2 cucumbers to the bottom of your feet.

Cucumbers are 96 percent water, so you'll almost be walking on water

I was hoping to get nailed up to some planks of wood, but walking on water seems preferable

Staines

I've not shaved this week and have quite a good chin thatch.

Then last night I went out planning not to drink. I was supping away on a glass of water - next thing I know there was a glass of wine in its place.

I think you'll find that's two strong cases of me replicating the looks and actions of Jesus.

saddened me to read this thread

even though I don't consider myself religious often in times of need religion does enter my head (which again may be wrong)

but we need to show respect to peoples religions

imagine if there was a same thread on here regarding Mu?ammad, the OP would already have had his account hacked, address found and actions taken, there are ways and means and respect should be given even if, like myself you don't follow a religion

Yup spot on. Let's all promote diversity and respect for culture but be selective about which ones we respect.

One of the strengths of Christianity it can, on the whole, cope a bit of ribbing, joking and criticism.

Even not particularly amusing stuff like in this thread.

One of my very best friends is a vicar - I can hear him saying "chill out" if he read this .

Then again I've seen him laugh until he nearly collapsed watching Life of Brian.

Personally, I dream of a world where we've moved completely beyond religion, but every it's critics acknowledge that Christianity is better than some in this regard.

I think it's much tongue in cheek. Not religious myself, but I do believe whatever religious persuasion there is, part of its character,, and what gives itself good character, is not taking itself too serious, in my opinion those religions that do take themselves far too serious border on the edge of fanaticism.

I don't believe Christianity is one of those religions (in the main)

Coincidently (and a little controversially) my uncle is a vicar, he's in a homosexual relationship, smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish and swears like a trooper.

That said, he's truly devoted to his religion and an incredibly popular priest.

I'll never forget visiting his restory on his coffee table he had a place mat inscribed

"Remember, Jesus loves you!

I still think you're a c*nt"

Interesting point. What do you think the future of religion will look like?

My generation is less religious than my parents'. My kids worship celebrities and technology. What will their kids worship? I think we are moving beyond religion already.

I'm really not sure what to think on this one .

The comments are certainly tongue in cheek , and not really blasphemous , so there's not really any great offence .

But , one has to question why there should be any need to take the piss at this special time of the year .

Then again , one may say why say anything about anything ? Freedom of expression is an important constitutional right after all .....

Considering most people's negative attitudes towards Easter and Christmas, I find it surprising (and just a bit hipocritical) that they take time off of work, eat & drink themselves stupid and spend obscene amounts of money on presents. All for a religion they don't believe in.

Being a Christian does not define me, any more than being a Fab swinger, a mummy or a public-sector worker does.

So there. Ner.

Personally I had no choice in having time off, my place is closed today. If I had it my way I would have an extra day off in the summer.I guess thats just part of living in a Christian country.

I dunno really, but you're right - I guess we'd all find some other God to worship, such as money or X-Factor contestants.

I guess many Christian countries are moving beyond religion, but it still had a powerful (and sometimes malign) hold elsewhere. We've all seen that in recent times.

I admit m thoughts on this post-religious world are vague and ill-focused. I like Christopher Hitchens - he was strongly anti-religion where it imposed ideals and assumed superiority of others.

I've posted this before, but I love him here:

2016 and believing in invisible men . For fucksake ! If I said I thought the care bears were real they'd lock me in a rubber room and give me mashed bannana for me tea . Go look at all the wonderful stuff that invisible men and their merry followers have done since the crusades onwards . I'm glad you have read a book you are really excited about . Reading is good , why stop at one ? ..... Try another ... Oh , and if you don't like my opinion and my right as a human not believe in invisible men , adhere to your teaching......and forgive me . X
