He's a racist bigot. His riches give him power and importance though.

Unfortunately it does seem he'll be the next republican candidate for president.

I'm pretty sure if he becomes president I'll no longer be able to visit the U.S.

He is not a successful business man.

After seeing a FB post about him a year or so ago I spent an hour looking the facts up cos I don't tend to believe stuff readily.

He inherited 200million from his father in the early eighties.

He has amassed huge debts again and again and then walked away from them after his company filed for bankruptcy on four separate occasions.

If he had been made to pay his debts his current wealth would be less than if he had put the original 200 million in a high interest account.

And people are voting for this fuckwit for president.

I speak my mind as does he but to be clear, Donald Trump appears to be a very savvy businessman in an industrial area that is super-analytical and quantitative -- real estate. You don't make billions of dollars building hotels and golf courses without being very smart.

In a democracy, people have a right to vote for a candidate whose policies suit them best. I don't think a handful of pseudo-intellectuals here matter

If they did matter at all, Trump wouldn't get elected

Those who disagree with his policies will either vote for someone else or not vote at all

I agree with some of his policies. And if I were American and eligible to vote, would prefer another candidate to take up a few of those policies alongwith a lot of other sensible policies. Trouble is, there isn't anyone else with the backbone to stand up against the farcical political correctness which has become the norm

I watched him at a rally. One dumbass, who is probably used to hiding behind PC, thought he could do so at Trump's too. T ordered his security to throw the dumbass out. Well done

People are simply just fed-up of weak-willed politicians

'Make America great again' is his frequently trotted out line. He forgets to add that it would be just for a select few, with unconscionable income disparities between the rich and others.

The dumb plebs who are angry form allegiance with him - they should just bend over for the shafting they'll take if he gets any power.

He can be bit extreme. He seems to appeal to what is termed The forgotten American. However he is a salesman and will change his technique to get votes. If he gets in he may reform ideas based on what he will say he now knows what is good for America considering what only an acting president is privy to. At the moment his idea of maintaining the Status Quo is to continue buying their albums and paying their pensions.

"How can any one elect a man that says that if he wasn't related to hid daughter he would be dating her

do you not think he was maybe joking.

I wish I did, but even then, why would you make such a sick joke?

I think he was just saying how proud he is to have such a beautiful daughter."

Exactly. There was nothing wrong in what he said. It was no more or less than saying that he thinks that his daughter is a very beautiful woman

Perhaps those who are reading in too much between the lines should examine themselves

A think the world is just too PC nowadays, can't say anything without someone taking offence to it.

I don't really care if he becomes president or not as I don't live there and it's nothing to do with me, it doesn't affect my life AT ALL, but the guy says what he thinks and doesn't give a rat's arse what anyone thinks about it, he's just like me and I like him for it

His campaign strategy mirrors exactly that of a certain German politician of the 1930's, except that he has substituted Mexicans & Muslims for Jews.

They both use/used the Make America/Germany Great again platform, without having any real policies to do so, they are/were _iewed as a political outsider and a joke, and appeal to the baser instincts of the electorate.

We all know how badly it went in Germany, after 1933, let's hope it doesn't go that way in 2017.

despite being rich/powerful..I think people have to start realizing the president isnt in power, its the banks.

If they elect an idiot to spout stuff that suits their agenda then thats all great for them.

war is profitable...thats the sad fact.

and after the western financial stabilization of the middle east, they might then move into the other parts such as north korea etc..

fuck knows if the stories I see on the news these days are true...but in my 20years of semi-apathetic interest I've started looking into some of our 'causes'.

I think its massive global puppetry, giving rise to extremists and merceneries of all ilks.

There was a guy in the guardian that did a very interesting article on trump and his support!.

Turns out he mentions the "wall" or anti Muslim rhetoric less than you think and mentions forcing giant corporations to return manufacturing and capital to the US more than you think!.

But the one thing he mentions more than most by a long long way is....free trade agreements, turns out he's all for getting rid of free trade?.

And there you have his support!.

A very large section of the US population have been bent over and shafted with every single free trade agreement they've had over the last 30 years, given to them by both Republican and democrats alike.

Will he follow through with his promises once elected?... That's anybody's guess

Interesting thread. Based on a straw poll of UK voters, only three people on this thread have expressed support, or at least not vehement dislike for Trump.

Shame only one of the contributors has a vote in the election.

He wants to increase manufacturing, curb imports and stop outsourcing. All good things for Americans. Whether it happens or not, only time will tell. In the here and now, it is winning votes as he is the only one sticking his neck out and saying the things which need to be said and which others are too weak to say

And who says that his one comment to stop Muslims from entering the US is 'anti'-Muslim? It is what he and millions of the voters see as a sensible immigration policy. All immigration policies can be called 'anti'-somebody

Financially Germany was doing brilliant after 1933!... It was Britain and the US who were fucked!. Hitler basically smashed all the German unions and the overseas investment from foreign companies came flooding in! (Think about that while listening to EU campaigns today)

I'm a big fan of FDR, however he himself used the exact same rhetoric for "making America great again" every bleeding leader ever in history has used it... Thatcher, Reagan etc etc.

Don't get me wrong trump is no great leader that FDR was but he's no Hitler either, personally I don't think he's got Hitler's gravitas or FDRs brains

Don't put words in my mouth.

There were plenty Jews in Germany, who believed that they would be left alone, as they were "Good Germans", or had fought for the Fatherland in the Great War. It did not save them.

Trumps' plan to keep Mexicans and Muslims out might give a false sense of security to those living legally within the US, but who knows how far this obviously deranged man could go?

the other problem is that if you have trump at the top of the republican ticket... are people in the senate and the house going to fall in line with his opinions... or are they going to try and distance themselves from from him...

there are a lot of blue collar republican representatives in the likes of ohio, pennsylvania, new hampshire, michigan, north carolina ect who are going to be very very worried.....

if trump wins, there is no way the republicans win the senate... and the could possibly lose the house.....

Stop putting words in my mouth?"

though he has said he's happy to pay any legal costs of those who do if they are 'protecting the country's freedom'...

Josie,

You seem to be missing an obvious point.

For all you know I might agree with every one of his policies. I don't even get as far as caring about what they are.

The man is incapable of sensible debate or of moderating what he says.

He is also completely comfortable making up " facts" and then simply insisting they are true without any shred of evidence.

He has shown over and over on every aspect of his life that he has little or no concern for his fellow man, only in his own endless self promotion.

Regardless of how policies, is this someone want as Comander in Cheif of the most powerful armed force in world. Think about it.

Can you give me one or two examples of which facts he has made up and how was it proven that these were untrue

I actually agree with you in large part. I do not want to see him as the next President of the US just because there are a few of his policies I agree with. However, in the absence of any other half-decent alternative, I suspect he will be

This is always the result of long spells of the looney left when they remain unchecked. People become disillusioned and the moderate right wing is overtaken by the far right

Exactly the same is happening in Germany. The hand-wringing lefties should only ever be trusted with making cuddly toys. Any hard decisions should left to tough politicians otherwise extremism will fill the vaccum

"

Here's a couple of obvious ones off the top of my head.

"Obamas birth certificate is false and I have seen absolute proof of this"

But it's not fake, so what absolute oroof did Trump see?

"The centre of Birmingham in the UK is so over in with Muslims that white people are scared to go there and it a "no go" area for the police"

I live there. It's not true.

"When the towers collapsed I watched mass groups of Muslims on the news cheering and celebrating on the streets of America."

No news organisation of to studio has been able to find any evidence of any such footage.

Trump still insists that he just is right and everyone else is lying.

I could fill the page with examples.

People are voting for Trump because they are sick of politicians and their perceived bullshit. Trump markets himself as a business man and as such gain s the protest vote in a similar way to UKIP over here. I don't like his policy but is he really much different or any worse than Ted Cruz?

"Hillary Clinton isn't famous for her honesty either ..."

I quite agree but there is a difference between the usual bullshit and double dealing we expect from politicians and the kind flat out lying that trump has bought to the table.

It's just how child like it is that I would find amazing from any adult but from a man seeking the highest political office in the world to make things up and then insist that he, and only he, is right is remarkable.

yes,i know you keep repeating so, but in what way has Germany for example been brought to its knees by feminism?...and if you are so offended by feminism ,im suprised you would be on here as it clearly caters to a very significant number of women who are very much in control of their own sexuality and sexual choices?"

Not thanks to the current third wave feminist

"Trump is a strong leader and with him in place they are preparing to not become like europe with its feminism and political correctess which as a result europe on its knees as seen in sweden and germany.

Can you explain how political correctness and feminism have left Europe on it;s knees?I cant but its a mix of it I recon.

So you have nothing at all to substantiate your comment with?

Yes I do, well not all of Europe, just some parts.

so, you say you can substantiaite your claim?..out of interest which specific parts of europe have been brought to their knees by feminism?

I am not offended by feminism and has nothing to do with sexuality or being on here, it is just an opinion on the political frontline. That its not a good choice for a country to have.

that doesn't even make sense as a sentence. you clearly stated feminism had brought a country 'to it's knees'...and now you say you do not disapprove of it?...and you still haven't explained exactly in what way germany has been brought to its knees?

The lack of any strong willed alternative could mean he'll get in.

Cameron would be shuffled off like a shot if there was an independent minded alternative.

"He is not a successful business man.

He borrowed $1000000 from his father in 1971 and started his own business.

He repayed his father 18 months later with interest.

His father retired due to ill health in the 1980s died late 1990s so could not inherit in the early 1980s. Trump amalgamated both his and his fathers company's into one in the late 80s which was worth combined $200million.

He then turned that business into the Trump empire worth now $10.5 billion.

Trump didn't borrow money his father in 1971, he was working for his fathers company then.

And don't take your figures for what he is worth from Trump .com which says 10billion

He's widely recognised to be around half that. He can't even be honest about being incredibly wealthy without having to lie about it to bolster his own ego.

"

Thick bastard "

Dangerous bastard.

He was given his wealth, amassed debts to build his empire and then bankrupted his company again and again so that he reaped the rewards of the sales while destroying the businesses that supplied the product and labour to build for him.

But if you know anything you must know that already and if knowing that you still think he deserves support there is no point debating.
