Did you have it on cheap white bread, buttered from the middle of the table as part of your chippy tea?

A buttered (not marge or veggie spread) crusty roll, chip shop chips, salt and vinegar and it's Heaven

I had it on a white buttered roll. I had to add brown sauce to make it edible. I don't think I'll be trying it again anytime soon...

Roll? Oooooo, hark at you!

Needs to be on soft white sliced. shove a bit of pie and/or gravy in there too for a taste sensation.

White bread, butter (proper butter, not that marg shite) and FRIES. And salt.

Condiments can kiss my arse.

I hate to say it. But I am in total agreement with the above statement.

And if you can have a glass of really artificial tasting cheap cherryade or lager with it then it's perfection.

I'm getting mixed signals here..chips vs fries. Red sauce vs gravy vs vinegar vs nothing. Etc, etc.

A good CB has to be a bit spontaneous.

You've got your din dins with decent chips and you're suddenly inspired to leap up get the bread and budder(for the colonials on here) and slap a good wedge of the greasy little bastards between the slice so it's bulging and dripping greeese.

I had a chip butty from a Scottish chip shop recently and they have their own sauce! Its like brown sauce but not, it definitely made it taste amazing! Normally I'd agree with the bread and fries statement but this roll was out of this world!

It takes experimentation.

Don't listen to him!

He's talking bollocks!

What you need is a crusty white roll with CHIPS not fries - proper butter, a bit of salt and ketchup and mayo!

Maybe with a bit of cheese of you want to feel really fat

I like vinegar on chips, but I think it would have been too dry with all those thick chips and fluffy bread. And red sauce didn't feeeeel right.

Vinegar is a component in other sauces, not a condiment on its own.

Chippy chips (cooked properly in lard) with salt and vinegar, proper white bread (not sliced) with loads of real butter. Sauce not necessary but if you must, ketchup.

I'm not a massive fan but it can be OK to have a chip roll when you are in a rush.

Plenty of salt but no sauce.

I'd stick curry sauce on it rather than brown sauce.

That would make all the difference.

And a half a lager and lime.
