Jump to: Newest in thread
I posted last month to say I had my second cold of the year having only recovered not long before from 2.5 week chest infection. I find myself in bed sneezing very loudly feeling like shit again - 3 in 3 months. Ffs give me a break! Any suggestions on improving my immune system? Fed up! |

Yes but you won't like it!.
Give up drinking alcohol.
Eat only raw or steamed green veg especially broccoli.
Don't eat meat.
Take a one hour brisk walk daily.
Make sure you get 8 hours sleep.
Drink around 2 litres of water daily, preferably pure water, and alkalinic not acidic.
.
.
After living like that for awhile... You'll be happy to go back as you were and get colds

Beta Glucans , elderberry extract ( sambucol ) , vitamin c and zinc .
Echinacea can help too .
Stay positive if possible , steam inhalation with chamomile is useful .
Allicin max ( a strong garlic extract ) could help clear infection .
Good luck op |

go to a decent pharmacist and tell them your symptoms. Get a decent decongestant x 2 bottles, get some maluca honey, loads of lemons and sugar and drink it daily. Eat loads of greens, varied diet, vit C effervescent are digested quickly. |

sinus rinses....seriously my GP recommend it after I was getting congested often it then turned into a sinus infection...I do it everyday and it clears all the bacteria and shit we breath in everyday...also lots of water, hot water with lemon in the morning but brush your teeth before and not after. |

Rest, eat healthily, regular exercise and good sleep are most of what you can do to maintain your immune system. Minimise stress and aim to balance life, rather than going all out for a while and then crashing - and then repeating. That burns us out, really damaging our health.
Find the pace of life that's natural for you and is also sustaining of your energy, without crashes. |

Think you've hit the problem on the head. Never been good at not going mad then crashing |

I was speaking to a lady friend who happens to be a GP and she said that there are a number of nasty viruses going round that are taking a moth or six weeks to clear. The main symptoms are tight chest usual cold like sneezes but a cough that lingers for two months mainly worse in the mornings. All good advice above though on vitamin supplements and the like. |

That sounds like an existence rather than a lifestyle. |

I know quite a few people who have had a virus that went straight to their sinuses...mine turned into a bacteria one I could of kissed my GP when finally someone said it was a sinus infection rather than cartarrh |

as an asthmatic, I hate them. . At the first sign of a cold, I use antihistamines to dry the mucus up before it gets on my chest, followed with manuka honey and lemon juice in hot water to drink, and an old face steamer ( or if at work, a 250ml beaker and a bunsen), with water and some menthol crystals in. bloody horrible, but after a few minutes of deep breathing that, you cough up all manner of disgusting crap that's been sat in your chest.
always works for me. .. |

If i get a heavy cold or flu, i really struggle to shift it for months, so i use Boots cold and flu defence nasal spray, so if i do get the first signs of a cold or flu, i use the spray, and it stops it developing into a full blown cold or flu. |
