Yes, there's some pretty good ones nowadays. They're not as shit as what they used to be. Can't name any off the top of my head but if you go for the more expensive ranges then they're generally pretty good. |

Can't remember the last time I used my microwave to cook a microwave meal. I do use it because it is a combination oven and grill and cooks things so much faster. It makes fabulous jacket potatoes and has a few settings that work a treat for different things. But I avoid microwave meals and cook from raw ingredients as much as possible. |

You can,t beat a meal cooked in the oven, but a microwave meal will save you over half the time to cook one, it will always be a personal choice among people but I find many ready meals (microwave) from supermarkets from fish meals, lasagne to sheppards pie and currys like asda,s own Indian currys and sharwoods a nice alternative along with some chips out the oven .. |

Yeah, i even made cakes in cups before that became popular on fb, and scrambled egg. I like experimenting with food.
All you've got to realise is that microwaves don't cook with convection like a conventional cooker/oven would, but instead by jiggling water molecules to produce energy (hence the dehydration). And then you'll have like 'hot spots' in the microwave where food cooks the quickest (this is why they turn around but it's not always that efficient) and you might have to stir food up as it's cooking, leave a few minutes between actual cooking of food for it to warm up in other places without over cooking. And that dried foods tend to not cook well in a microwave, pasta doesn't but the sauce is cooking around it and warming it up that way. etc. |

"Scrambled eggs done in the microwave is just wrong on all levels "
it turns out better than if i use a pan and hob. just need to keep an eye on it and stir it every minute to keep the eggs moist, and it doesn't burn to the pan like how it does when i use the cooker. |

Yes. I'm absolute shit at cooking. So when Marc isn't around I would starve if it weren't for microwave meals and pasta. I can't be too picky.

The key to cooking eggs in the microwave (I poach mine) is to turn the microwave down instead of nuking them on full power (which will make them go rubbery).
Most people just stick everything on full blast. |

Well, considering how many pub/restaurant meals are done either in part or wholly in microwaves maybe youall shouldn't be so fussy.
Microwave cooking is an art bion, if you just stick food in there full blast and leave it, of course it will be knackered or underdone.
Take scrambled eggs:
eggs in bowl, add milk, cheeeze, bit o' salt n pepper then whisk brisk. Set timer for 3 mins. Put in and leave for 20 seconds, take out and stir, back in for 20 seconds and stir. Keep doing this until light and fluffy or to your preference. Final act is to put a nob (of butter) in it and there you are. |

try the slimming world ones from Iceland - they are very tasty, are big enough to fill you up (unlike most diet food portions) and are 'free food' which means you can eat as much of them as you like |

Never buy ready meals from supermarkets, despite the labels you just dont know what they put in them.
Prefer to spend a bit of time occasionally preparing my own using the oven and slow cooker, then freezing them in tubs.
Simple to pull one out and microwave in just a few mins for a tasty meal, I know exactly whats in them.....and it works out a damn site cheaper than getting the ripped off by the greedy supermarkets! |

"Yet to have one that tastes nice or hasn't gone rock hard "
Yes I've had many nice microwave meals.
Granted these are typically ones I've made previously and heated up the next day if there was any leftovers. |

I have also picked up a weight watchers beef hotpot once.
That was reasonably tasty but I think (can't remember off the top of my head) that whilst it took the calories down, it compensated on this and was quite high in salt, which obviously helped the flavour.
So probably OK for a quick once off now and then. |

It's nice to have the time but with may of us work is just too time consuming to then home home and prepare and cook a meal.
The Charlie Brigham range from Waitrose are quite nice but do cost a bit more. |

I had a De Dietrich Microwave which you could change from 600w to 1000w I think it was.
Had to pay £800 for the privilege though! |

I think it's interesting that some people are really sniffy about ready meals (their perfect right BTW).
I cook A LOT but still think they have a valuable place on our supermarket shelves and can on occasion be delicious and time saving. |

Yes, I've had a few. I work near Iceland and Lidl, they fill a gap and at least it's something hot in the winter months. For a quid or a little more, you can't go wrong. |
