Try using your own determination, hard work & effort, no one needs a personal trainer unless its to build on their lack of confidence.
research, hard work & effort |

I am considering getting one. My personal view is that I haven't got the time with a busy work life to determine where I am going right and wrong with both exercise and diet. Furthermore someone pushing my limits is likely to result in more progress |

"Every 5th message is from someone who claims to be a personal trainer....
I didnt claim to be a personal trainer"
I wasn't referring to you in particular, just the jobs people seem to have that message me. PTs, firemen, soldiers, mercenaries seem to be extraordinarily popular |

I'd disagree - if they already know the latest evidence then it cuts out that part for someone who is ready to train. The ops looking for advice I believe. |

"Yeh I'm the same shrew guy I've hit bit of a walk just need some guiding I have googled people in west mids but had no luck "
Simply gym has just opened up by me and they list their personal trainers on the site. Otherwise ask at your local gym or look for a notice board there. I get impression there are a shit loads of PT's around so you should get a good choice and value for money |

There are lots of shit PTs, just as with any industry.
Make sure you get a PT who listens to what you want and tailors the programme to your needs - avoid anyone who gives you a set routine/programme that they use for everyone.
I've had the bad kind and the good kind and it makes all the difference to your motivation. |

That's all fair and good but... how would someone with no experience or knowledge know if they have actually tailored it to you personally or if it is just what they give to anyone? |

I must admit I wouldn't know any difference. I'm starting to think its a case of seeing how you get on unless you can get a recommendation from someone you trust |

Because a good PT will want to know what motivates you. They will want to know what you like and what you don't. If you need tough love and want to pushed harder or if your motivation comes from getting enjoyment out of the training you're doing.
If they stick you doing 10 minutes on each set of gym equipment for an hour every session then they're not being very creative.
A good PT will be able to communicate with the client in a way that gets the best out of them. |

"All the info on getting workout routines and nutrition stuff are free on youtube. No need to spend loads on a PT."
It's also knowing who to trust on YouTube.
I've watched more fitness videos than I'd care to admit in the last few months to try and learn and glean the information I need and most of the 'personalities' are steroid users who are soley interested in making money from their channel or products. It's actually quite an amusing world I never knew existed.
I'd personally recommend a more specialised and established website created for what you want to achieve to look for information.
Not like I'm an expert at all though - just my conclusion from what I've seen. |

Even if you get a recommendation that person might not be the right fit for you.
I'll give you my example.
My first personal trainer fit all the right boxes, his own highly kitted-out private gym, lots of credentials and qualifcations. But I was stuck doing the same routine around the gym equipment and it left me bored and I wasn't enjoying it. He would stand beside me with a clipboard ticking off what I'd done.
My second personal trainer was an ex-army PT, he knew I liked variety so he was always mixing it up with boxing, weights, aerobics etc. He knew I didn't like being watched so he would join in too and do the workout alongside me. He got me to make my own CD with the music I loved to work out too to help my motivation. He had a wicked filthy sense of humour and had served in Nothern Ireland so we had loads of in-jokes.
Sadly he moved away and I've since switched to pilates.
You'll only know if someone is good for you if you try - don't be tempted by block booking discounts - try one or two sessions first to see if it's going to meet your needs. |

I must say I do it on daily basis, they are really fun lol, yeah few are on steroids, but the info is generally the same, the roids just speeds up the progress. As well as them sites, you got the muscles and fitness mags as well in the shops to. |

Search within yourself and delve deep to get that motivation. Set a goal in your mind, work for it, make it come to pass. Command yourself to do it. Your the boss and you tell your body what to do it doesn't tell you.
Look up CT Fletcher if your after motivation and diet supplements go on Musclemeds. Go get em and don't take no for an answer |
