The 1% actually comes for the president of the American Motorcycle Union who once said that it was the 1% of back patch clubs that ruined motorcycling for everyone else. In response the patches stared to wear a 1% patch to show they were proud to be that 1%! | |||

The 38million road users is correct and is form DVLA licences issued but the 2.6percent bikes is what's currently taxes and up to 30% of bikes are not taxed at any given time. It works to a little over a million bikes owned. Of the 38 million licence holders around 3 million have a bike licence. So around 7% have licenses and around 4% have bikes. I didn't do bad first time round as a complete guess. I didn't assume we were taking whole population as I didn't think kids who can't drive would count. " | |||
