Was reading about john Travolta s wife Kelly she has given birth to her son ... when she give birth no words are to be spoken by anyone not even the Doctors not even kelly in scientology you have a silent birth ....... thank god it was not me having that baby i chated and said all sorts . Its a strange religion as i find most religions can be .. just see it all as control really if i tell the truth ..

my ex hubby said he didnt know I knew some of the words I used when delivering our first son...so i'd have been no good at a silent birth !

i can understand if the reason behind this is to give the baby a calm environment to come into..but I'm not sure how practical it is - birth hurts!

and i think id prefer to still hear quiet words of comfort, encouragement and support than total silence.

Any religion developed from a bunch of badly written Sci-Fi stories isn't really going to make much sense to sane people.

Anyway that's enough about Christianity, back to Scientology.

My first wife swore like a trooper when she gave birth. I've never heard such filth coming out of a woman's mouth before - then she had the gall to say it was all my fault!

So I told her, "and you said anal would hurt, it's ya own goddam fault!"

If it's a silent birth it means nobody can mention his wig.

My only experience of births is that they're fraught and emotional and a bit scarey. Anything that gets in the way is just ridiculous, including birth plans (cough) and pseudo religious clap trap.

My 15 yr old son was asked to step out of an RE class a while back for telling his teacher that Scientology was "obviously a load of bollocks and anyone who took it seriously deserves to have all their millions stolen" as it was apparently 'disrespectful of other people's beliefs'. Even when he told the teacher 'but Miss my Dad told me so'. I should be a bit more tactful maybe..

You can see why Katie (Holmes) has been looking glum recently. She expected to marry a Hollywood A-Lister and ascend the throne herself and now she's discovered that her hubby gives 25% of his earnings away to a bunch of freaks and she must wake up each morning thinking, "What a cunt!".

I think that particularly with something like Scientology, it's superstition. Travolta finds it easier to attribute his comeback in Pulp Fiction to Xenu, dictator of the Galactic Confederacy, rather than Quentin Tarantino wanting to cast Tony Manero in an ironic role.

Red thread around wrists is also an old northern superstition though to keep evil spirits away. The red is linked to blood, which is considered magical and carrying life force.

Not sure why the celebs are wearing them though.

Although I struggle with the concept of following any religion or faith driven belief, which to me, all seem to have many hypocritical flaws apparent in their teachings and doctrines….

I do however confess, to having a slight envy of anyone able to find peace and comfort from any source which satisfies their own personal needs without installing a harmful prejudice or desire to convert others who’ve found their own reason not to follow those same beliefs…

John Travolta and Tom Cruise have long been known followers of Scientology. Can't you remember the fuss the gossip mags started when Posh and Becks first went to the USA and moved in near Tom Cruise? They were all saying that Posh and Becks were being targeted as the next high profile couple to join the sect.

Do you really think Her Poshness would give anyone 25% of her hard earned? More chance of her coming over here and sitting on big Jacks knob

I wish....bet she's tight as a mouses earole

I believe in myself. I need no reassurances about a non-corporeal entity that's up there/out there looking out for me. I need no emotional crutch to blame when things get shitty in my life - I work my own way through them and as each experience, good or bad, enriches me as I get older I find myself being able to deal with things much more calmly than when I was younger and not so life-experienced.

I am my own God.

Same here. They usually beat a hasty retreat and never come back after I've suggested they come up to the heath at midnight, sing some songs, dance around a campfire and chat to some of my mates about their beliefs.

Sorry,I should have been clearer..Gervais seemed to out Cruise and Travolta as gay

he said “Also not nominated was ‘I Love You Philip Morris,’ Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Two heterosexual characters pretending to be gay,” he said. “So the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists, then.”

When the crowd started booing gasping, Ricky hedged his words.

“Probably,” he said. “My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke. They’re not here.”

I think that the red string wearers are followers of Kaballah, a Jewish based religion.
