People think if they include a random disclaimer on their profile it actually has legal weight and will stop any institution from using the info they put up for all and sundry to see.
It doesn't.
There's no right to privacy in Australia, not in statute or common law and no tort covers it.

Idiotic legal sounding bullocks. Along with the UCC one about privacy on Facebook which actually refers to US commercial law. It's a hoax perpetuated by the intellectually challenged. The only privacy rules are those you agree to when you sign up to a website and those enshrined in common law. |
