That's sad. I don't like the Grand National because at least one horse usually gets injured and has to be put to sleep.

In all honesty I struggle to feel any emotion when I hear about animals dying in such circumstances....

It's not that I don't care..... but in a world where children are dying because humans don't care...

I can't direct my sympathy towards an animal who during its life received far greater consideration than a child abandoned too the horrors that engulf our planet and shame our species.....

Never really understood this attitude - the idea that you can't care about animal suffering because humans are suffering in e world. Why can't we care about both? They're not mutually exclusive.

Never was into horse racing for that reason.

Same here.......does loving animals and not wanting them to suffer mean you have to be hard hearted about children? Surely all life is precious and caring enough to want to help should be universal to all creatures - human or otherwise

Wolverhampton

Well, we certainly eat a lot of them.

Apparently Dartmoor ponies are being bred for meat now.

All very commendable......

But to justify your point you are selectively ignoring that I said ,,,,,,,, "It's not that I don't care".....

We are living in a world where children are dying because humans don't care... and I choose to focus on that but that doesn't make me any less sentient than someone who wishes to share their compassion with the plight of animal and children who are suffering......

I didn't ignore that.....I also noticed you said 'I can't direct my sympathy towards an animal......' It was pointed out that all life has merits be it a small child abandoned in a war torn country or an animal forced to run until it dies - compassion is compassion and it is not limited - you can have empathy for both without diminishing your strength of feeling. I know you are a very caring and empathic person
