"Viking?
My ancestors have viking blood in them ......the randy buggers."
There's no such thing as Viking blood - "vikings" were a mix of of many Scandinavian bloodlines, as well as Frisian, Belgian, Gallic etc. The closest you could get would be "Norse" blood, and not all Norsemen were vikings. It wasn't a race, it was a job of sorts. |

My parents and all my family and ancestors are Irish (Dublin and the Cork Kerry border) I was born in Manchester.
I am not Irish. I am not English.
I am British!
It is a shame that so many people would rather identify as English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh or from any other country rather than British. |

The Garden of Eden in Beautiful North Wales |
Father, Welsh
Mother, Welsh/Irish
Myself, born in Doncaster but lived in Wales for over 50 years, so I consider myself Welsh and I support Wales in most things...
The furthest I'll go from being Welsh is Welish. Half Welsh, half english |

And you my friend are the perfect example of the problem. You are British but when describing yourself you are Welsh (capital W) although you were born in England you dont use a capital E for England and don't even acknowledge half your mothers heritage for which you should hang your head in shame.
There are many things wrong with the USA but at least Americans are all proud of being American no matter where they are originally from. Pity we cant copy that part of American culture. |

Another mongrel here.
Born and raised in England but out of Irish stock on the maternal side, Irish and Scots on the paternal. To complete the set, lived in Wales for 25 years.
For what it's worth, when it comes to sporting events, I'm English! |

Blimey - I think you need to wind your neck in a little bit mate!
It's hardly a shock that person with a Welsh parent, a half-Welsh parent and lived in Wales for many years describes themselves as Welsh . Most people tend to give themselves one prominent nationality and in this case it's Welsh.
Where you were born is not really an indication of your nationality. I can think of two English mates who were born in Wales to English parents - good luck telling them they are Welsh!
Out of interest would you be so concerned if a a person born in Wales, with one half Welsh parent and having lived in England for over 50 years didn't acknowledge their Welsh heritage?
I have Welsh parents and grandparents. Happy to be Welsh and British. |
