"I absolutely him, he is all smiley and full of wonder and excitement at everything he does "
Yes, me too. He's like a great overgrown kid at Christmas.
The story of him starting up the Spitfire engine inside his workshop and trashing the place kills me every time. |

Just about to finish reading his book about his day to life in 2015.
Unbelievable. Completely unfazed about the celeb thing, still a full time truck mechanic who turns down a days filming for Chanel 4 cos he has an MOT to get done and just loves engines and speed.
Unfortunately girls, he now has a girlfriend.
Coolest bit in the book is when he wants an old tractor to use for raking the dirt track he rides in and when he realises he can also use it to earn £750 a week harvesting potatoes he tells the TV company that instead of paying him for the latest series they should buy him a tractor.
So they buy him a £250'000 tractor which sits in his garden and gets used once a month. |

If you look in the dictionary for the word "MAN" guy Martin is what you find, he drinks tea and tinkers with everything, I recon he's single because no woman is ever going to say to him "that Hoover isn't picking up like it should" the next day the kids, the carpet, and the cat, would have to be rescued from the dust bag lol |

I'm pretty sure if he had taken up full time riding he would have had TT wins.
Pretty much everyone beating him is a full time rider while Guy insists on holding down a full time job earning £12 an hour fixing trucks.
And that in spite of being able to earn 10 years worth of salary doing just one series of TV.
He turned down a Top Gear presenter role cos it would stop doing other stuff he liked.
Absolutely fascinating bloke.
And nuts. |

i agree, he hasn't had the right attitude to be a TT winner and the lack of commitment to his riding is one facet of that |

Think it's 15 podiums he's had at the TT...he was nailed on for a win until the bike broke down one year...he was well ahead on time. Not bad for a part timer. |

Exactly and for all who have ridden the IoM TT course it has a vast amount of dodgy corners even the mountain straight is hairy due to uneven roads |

really enjoyed this special last night.
I do think that there was a little bit of sandbagging from the Red Bull side of the garage so that there wasn't too bing a difference but that didn't detract from the enjoyment.
What was also impressive (in case you missed the brief comment) is that this was Guys first time back out on the BMW since crashing it last year at the Ulster GP |

A fun show;
And the bike did pretty well: after all; the F1 car is about as far removed from what a " real" car is as you can get;
Racing bikes ( although highly tuned) are not so far different to the ones you can buy in the shop. |

100% the standing start on wets. Nothing cmes close to an f1 car. Even touring cars would beat the bike.
would be good to see how much quicker on the IoM a f1 would be |

F1 11 chaps on the team even have to bring à guy from France to get the car started
GUY turns up with his guy in a van
1 man and a bike
Plus you can buy the bike in a shop and modify it yourself to be the same as Guy,s
It was all à bit tounge in cheek for me as a previous post would like to see F1 car go round IOM and see whos faster
Plus they used the fastist race track in the uk where the F1 power could ce used to the full |

There are so many bumps, blind crests, adverse camber corners and not forgetting the road furniture like lampposts and brick walls that an F1 car may not even be faster.
The ride height would have to be increased so much it would decrease the cars topline performance thereby limiting ultimate lap pace.
Would be good to see though. |

I think he's an absolute legend. Can't even imagine having that much humility.
Isn't fazed in the slightest by the whole fame and money thing, just does what he wants.
Love him. Wouldn't him ask for an autograph though! |

I doubt an F1 car would get round the circuit: Ballaugh Bridge would be interesting!
A good race would be one of the top LeMans cars vs a bike round the IOM.... |

Agreed. All other things being equal and downforce aside, it's just weight decided by contact patch so car wins on cornering every time.

You are now comparing prototype race cars against modified road bikes, what about a 260 bhp MotoGP bike. |

It's been done all over the net and racing bikes are just no match for cars.it's not a problem as they will never race each other. |

Yep, they said it on there like always, F1 cars have the aero to carry the speed in to the corners.
Great program though as love Guy Martin |

The man is a legend, when he was preparing for his pine peaks run. He converted a room into his house that he could use to get acclimatised to the altitude he was racing at.
All his racing bikes he works on himself, everyone knows he can win a TT it just hasn't happened yet (even the Morecambe missile admitted that). |

Not forgetting the penalty he picked up for an oversized valve in the engine, also for going 0.12 kph over the pit lane speed limit. Both took him away from a win. |

He'll never be a Joey, that's for certain." Even thou joey got the title 26 times around the course arguably the TT,s greatest rider before his death in estonia in 2000 and his own sculture in memorial to him on the Isle of man most certainly one of steve martins hero,s along with jimmy Guthrie six times winner from the 1930,s who has a Impressive cairn dedicated to him on Snaefell, along with weekend bikers killed while liveing the TT dream their passing marked by tiny plaques screwed to non descript walls. and of course Dave Jefferies, who had won three titles at the 2002 TT and held the lap-speed record, he left the road at 160 mph, crashed into a telegraph pole at crosby and was killed during practice for the 2003 race. Thou guy has proved to be a good rider I,m pleased to say he has looked away now and is happy what he does now with his life. |

certainly nothing that would stand a chance on a track against other cars. |
