So I know this might sound ridiculous but seeing as how it has been 5 years since the start of the conflict as of today, perhaps we could reflect and hope as a community that the peace talks yield something beneficial for the Syrian's who have been displaced to Jordan, Lebanon and elsewhere, or are unable to flee. |

The numbers coming to Europe are really very small in comparison. "
Personally I don't think we (as a country) have done anywhere near enough. I have driven through France a lot over the last few years and it is truly heartbreaking to see the children and vulnerable adults forced into such squalor and chaos because Europe as a whole cant get its act together and agree how to settle them in safety.
Have to say Germany's airport that had been converted into housing for the refugees is a world away from the jungle and Dunkirk.

I agree with this, people go on saying other countries need to do more, but quite frankly we've done bugger all in comparison to other nations.
Surely, helping to disperse refugees throughout europe, rather than letting the numbers build up in camps within Lebanon, Jordan and other sites in Europe is less costly?
It's appalling, the issue of re-settling Syria may not be on the table for years to come. Europe needs to buck up and help more. Us included. |
