You Dont Need to Know, right now |
How do people do it? How do they manage to post to a thread, after it has already been closed for being too big?
As a woman, this is very important for me to know, as we all know that women are always right, and must be allowed 'the last word'  |

Or there is always the other alternative where you simply highjack another thread to get the last word on the thread that got to big.....
i.e. Sing along a Max volume 177.... |

I think VaraD got it ^^^ up there. Hit the "reply in forum" button, when the thread gets to around 173. Type comment, but wait.... and wait ... and wait, before hitting the "post message" button. Meanwhile, other people have posted on the thread, it has passed 175 posts and been closed. But as you still had a response 'in preparation', you get the last word. |

...but it is the Achilles' Heel of this medium that people inevitably sit in their silos and shout at one another.
I do not believe that any of the political threads have caused a single person to say, "Hmm, maybe I got that wrong...".
It's sad but there it is. |

...but it is the Achilles' Heel of this medium that people inevitably sit in their silos and shout at one another.
I do not believe that any of the political threads have caused a single person to say, "Hmm, maybe I got that wrong...".

Very wise. It's hard to convey a tone of voice in the medium of text. Some (a minority) struggle with the concept of a debate not being about winning,but looking at all angles.
If you're having to raise your voice to get your argument across, then maybe it's your argument that needs raising. |

It's not possible to tag posts to watch, or for threads to go on indefinitely.
On a previous site me and another guy kept a Last Word thread going for 5 months.
I would have won eventually but I was rudely kicked off the site.

And tbf, I know *exactly* how this thread will end...
Some die-hards will remember it and wait till it times out and then go to war doing the posting-after-the-thread's-closed thing before Admin have the final last word. |

Bloody Heck! There's 'Copper' membership too now? What's that £5 for 6 months? What are the benefits: you're allowed messages, but only allowed to read the first word? You can look at pictures, but all the rude bits are hidden by fruit and vegetables? (Apart from the lady with the sweetcorn cob inside her, that's probably hidden by something more innocent, obvs)
