Have you rebooted?

Tayside

Could be a loose connection inside the PC where the vga input connects to the motherboard.

Take side off PC cover (after turning PC off that is) and check that all cables are securely plugged into the motherboard.

Take the monitor to a friends house and plug into their PC.

You will soon find out if its in the pc or monitor then.

Does the monitor have two or more inputs (two VGA connectors or whatever on the back), since it may just be looking at the wrong input! (Usually a button on the front to cycle between inputs).

Otherwise sounds like the PC is not sending a video signal.

Do you see anything when you reboot your computer? You know the black screen with white text?

If not sounds like the video card isn't working, either because it has become unseated or it has died.
