Great gear, wish I could afford same
Im just beginning with the Canon 50D & EFS 18 - 200mm im lens, some good shots though, I do believe its all about lighting, if you have enough light you can get some lovely shots ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Was into photography years ago and lost heart in it when all my gear was stolen from my lock up, I can just imagine some scummy bastard ran around taking "snaps" of his mates on my medium format slr.
They took medium format kit including lenses, 3 back and prism finder, my lights and differs and soft boxes, cannon eos5 bodies x2 and 6 lenses including my 300mm and enlarge and all if my development kit.
I'm going to get back into photography but I need to learn a lot about the digital side of things, but all the principles are the same, its just the technology that's changed, it makes sense for me to take it up again and combine it with my passion for bdsm |

At work it's a cannon d60, my personal camera is a Sony a58 (my first camera was a Sony purely because I wanted something comparable with my playstations at the time. Now I'm on my 3rd due to lenses and kit I've bought over the years. To be fair, I like them even if it does mark me out as "different" in the world of photos). |

The 60d is still a very nice camera even though a few years old now.... The 18-55 and 55-250 I presume are kit lenses.... Nothing wrong with them and great images can be produced but work best around f8-9 so bokeh is a little hard with them.... The sigma lens I've been told is a little soft unless it is the new art lens they produce..... You might want to invest in canon L series lenses if you can.....nothing better than the same make of lens and body....oh and if you are just looking a portrait style shoots you might want to think about FF....I don't use ff as do more adventure sports so crop gives me more reach.... Hope that helps.
Happy shooting ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"I use my normal samsung phone and the build in hd camera on my laptop "
Camera phones have come on but when the lens is as big as a mouses eye and the sensor is tiny.you are limited to the quality of pics.
Nice to see plenty of people into it.same there so many nikkon users ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

I'm thinking of doing a photography course. What sort of camera would you recommend? I want something that I'm not going to have to replace in a couple of years because it's the basic of basic....
Thanks in advance ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Mirrorless are getting popular now.if you really going get into it .spend as much as you can.I got mine over the net from Hong Kong and paid less.lens are the important bit.I spent 50 quid on a cheap fixed focus lens and it's very good quality.
Think about spending 500 plus if you going use it lots |

New Canon 750D is a spanking little camera and should last you several years, or if you prefer to join the yellow side, Nikon have the 5500D at the same price point.
Some of the mirror less cameras are supposed to be good, but I've not had much to do with those so can't give much advice on models.
You could always pop along to The Photography Show at the Nec this weekend- no better place to get your hands on something fun to play with ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

I wouldn't get too hung up on the camera. Much more important to learn the basics of Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO and what makes a good composition.
It's all about learning to "see" and training your eyes really.
Personally, I'd say an entry level dSLR will be fine for the first few years, though if you have more to spend, then do it. Entry level Nikon and Canons are good cameras these days, though I'm a Pentax buff myself.
One thing to consider is that when you get into it, you'll undoubtedly develop LBA - Lens Buying Addiction. It may be worth budgeting for that and checking out what people tend to get as their skills come on. When I bought mine, I thought I'd be happy with the kit lens, but was soon looking enviously at super-zooms and prime lenses! If you get into it you will want lenses!
As mentioned, mirrorless Compact System Cameras are great now - that might be an option - Olympus do a range, as do Fuji etc.
One other thing - there's some great tutorials on YouTube, but they're very focused on showing off kit or technique. I love a channel called the Art of Photography - has loads of great talks on composition and great photographers.
Also, B&H do some great talks from excellent photographers. |

Wow you have some stunning pictures!
I love photography and need to invest in a decent camera and stand as the husband has no idea how to take a picture!
Our pics are with my iPhone and follow a blog which teaches you how to use the camera on your phone to its best. |
