A question for those who go watch football

East Yorkshire

I'm sat outside my local stadium waiting to pick my daughter up as she's a ball girl for them and I'm always amazed at the amount of people leaving the match before the end. I'm not talking a few I mean they're leaving in droves sprinting across the car park. It makes no difference if it's a good game or a bad game it's always the same!!

Now tickets aren't cheap so what's the point of missing the end of the match?

To beat the hoards of traffic?

62 West Wallaby Street (not real address)

To get out the car park first. I did this once as when we left score was still 0-0. My team scored in the last minute and I missed the goal

When I was kid...... the exit gates were opened 20 minutes before the final whistle which usually resulted in hundreds of young fans who'd been waiting outside the ground rushing in to watch the last few minutes of the game...

It was a great way to feel part of the club .......

It's usually to beat the crowds or traffic.

Unless the team is having a particularly bad game. We lost 3-0 today but I stayed to the bitter end. As quite a few had already left traffic was a breeze!

I only tend to leave early on mid week games and that's because my old man works nights and we go together and I get a lift. Other than that I paid enough for a season ticket so missing game time is a no no

Exactly and I bet you were well pissed you didn't stay!! It's like leaving a concert after the support act or a film before the ending its just not done when you've paid to watch the whole thing!!

The only time I did leave early was when we were 3-0 down by half time to a club two divisions lower in the fa cup.

But I also had to pick my son up from a party, so that's my excuse.

Normally always stay until the final whistle. Like you say, op, be like leaving a concert after the support or leaving before a film ends.

Grantham

Either to beat the traffic or to show annoyance to the team if they've done badly.

nottingham/derby

I always tend to get up and leave bang on 90 mins before extra time mainly because if you wait until the whistle it takes 20 mins just to get up the stairs to get out the ground and I hate queuing

SW London

We always stay until the end because we get free tickets due to family being associated with the club

Depending on the stadium, you can be held in traffic for hours afterwards - if I can get away a few mins before the end it can be an hour or more sooner that I get home than had I stayed for the last 5 mins.

It all depends on the importance of the game and the score. A standard run of the mill league game and you're 3-0 up or down, you're not going to miss much.

A promotion decider and I'm there until the end

"Sooner watch the game till the end and wait 10 minuets for the crowd to die down .where they all rushing to go anyway ? "

The big exodus from the car park

It's taken me up to an hour to leave the Etihad

But I always stay to the end

Though it is getting easier to leave early lately
