On the news tonight cutting funding for our nurses replacing grants for loans. I think it is absolutely disgusting.

Perhaps a more balanced perspective? "Screw over" is not a great starting point.
It is a bit like politicians always starting their NHS answers with, "Our doctors are dedicated and wonderful." |

NHS has to go. We should all pay health insurance like America and other European countries.. It's an amazing service and the nurses and doctors are very good but people continuously take the piss out of it. Time for change |

I agree that it seems a really short sighted decision to scrap the bursaries for trainee nurses because there are already problems with recruitment anyway.
I'd put it in slightly more rational terms though. This isn't changing anything for existing nurses so they are not being screwed over. It will hit future training though. I don't agree with it - but the opening post is misleading. |

And teachers.
And the police.
ANd electricity users.
And the BBC.
And tenants.
And people who want to be first time buyers.
And employee rights.
And the Human Rights Act.
And not taxing industries.
And screwing the taxpayer instead through austerity.
And refugees.
And demonising immigrants.
And muslim women who haven't learned English.
And cutting back funding for people who don't have English as an EAL but want to learn.
And fighting elections unfairly from an economic point of view by spending what looks like twice the legal limit in some constituencies.
I could go on.
I could go on.

It's not ideal and like has been said this will only affect new recruits. Oddly between this and the new visa/work permit legislation it will be interesting to see how the gap is plugged.
The starting salary for a nurse is a band 5 (just over 21k) and currently not subject to any repayment of that grant. As I said, I'm keen to see how it all plays out |
