Are dogs better than cats
Jump to: Newest in thread
Dogs are hard work. I don't have a dog because I couldn't look after one.
But they do more than cats and I can see dog owners would get more from them than. A cat owner would from a cat.
Cats are easy pets, feed them change the little, brush them and occupy them but !one sleep alot but it's fascinating watching them watching them interact together. I sit every night must watching them i can't work out if they love me but they are definetly comforted by me, curl up with me all come to!meet me when I've been out. Safe, they feel safe around me.
I get much joy just watching mine |

We have both but I would take the dog over the cats in a heartbeat.
He has such a lovely temperament, not overly affectionate but very loyal and a great companion and makes me excercise. The cats are both 16 now, love them very much but would never get another.

I don't think either of them are particularly smart, one chases laser lights and the other runs into close patio doors, mind you I've done both while d*unk so I can't comment.
Dogs have more users in general and are easier to train |

Just to add, having the dog is better socially too. I can't go for a walk with him without at least one person stopping to chat and ask questions. His size and face make him very popular ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Saw a news article the other day where a dog had stayed with its owner, who was stuck and in mortal danger, for seven hours till he was rescued.
Can't imagine a cat doing similar |

My puppy is giving me hours of fun,and a lot of cleaning up after him. At the moment he's growling at his reflection in my blacked out laptop screen. The cat eats, shits in the litter and fucks off to sleep somewhere. |

That you've never seen one shows how good they are at undercover police work. Lassie was actually played by three cats in a costume.
After developing the use of thumbs, I predict the next stage of cat evolution will be for them acquire the ability to slowly raise one middle claw at you when you've told them to get off the bed.

Maybe this will help highlight the differences between them.
DOG DIARY:
8:00 AM - Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 AM - A car ride! My favorite thing!
9:40 AM - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
10:30 AM - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
12:00 PM - Lunch! My favorite thing!
1:00 PM - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!
3:00 PM - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!
5:00 PM - Milk bones! My favorite thing!
7:00 PM - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!
8:00 PM - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00 PM - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!
CAT DIARY:
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are
fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt
for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in
order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is
my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit
on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their
feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it
clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely
made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.
batsards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was
placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard
that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must
learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try
this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and
snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly
released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded.
