I've recently starting doing 6am cardio workouts down my gym (aswell as weight training in evening)
I'm suprised at just how busy it is at 6am ........ So just wondering if there is any other gym goers - what do you prefer early morning or afternoon workouts? |

I prefer mid day work outs as they break the day nicely, however these are a far distant memory from my armed forces days and I'm now an after work gym goer (providing I go straight from the office to the gym, going home first results in being kidnapped and held hostage by the telly!). |

I like to do my workouts at 10am and I like the usual crowd that are there same time as me and it is not busy, so I can spend longer time on the machines |

I go when I can so either early morning or late at night. My best workouts have always been around 5-6pm. When the body is warmed up and not too tired.
Fasted cardio first thing is good for fat burning. Curled with a protein shake and cup of joe. |

Early mornings are great for cardio. I usually only train in the evenings during the off season |

before kids I used to go before work, great way to start the day. My old gym had an outdoor pool and i swam in it rain hail or shine.
These days I try and go a couple of times during the work day when coming back to the office from meetings etc. I'll get the occasional morning or might go at 9 at night.... gotta be flexible!

What do you think the gain is down to lovely?
Do you need to tweak something? X |

Earlyish for me all the way..
Get in and get it done before you have time to even think about slacking off and not going.
That's the same with my cycling and my running..with running I'll jump out of bed and pull my shorts on and a small glass of water and I'm gone within five minutes of waking normally.
Gym sessions have to be all finish by 9.30 at the latest in order to begin my lounging in coffee shops with my friends by 10am. |

It'll be mainly water retention. You can shed that in a few days. There's no way you would have consumed an extra 14000 calories in a week. |

I get plenty of cardio through the day: Five mile cycle to and from work and a two mile walk at lunchtime. I try to get to the gym three times a week for weights, but have failed miserably of late due to illness and injury. Can't wait to get back on track! |

These days work means I only go to the gym in the evenings but back when I was in my 20s used to run twice a day (morning and evening) and train in the gym at lunchtime twice a week.

Don't worry; muscle is denser. It is not all about how much one weighs; xxx |

Thanks to all concerned,, my weight loss program is really good. I believe its water retention as my legs/feet are very puffy.
Although its not great to see a gain i am hoping that it will sort itself out in a few weeks when my body becomes used to the extra activity. (Ive gone from pretty much nothing to 3/4 times a week)
Not put me off exercising though. I notice the difference already that i can walk further without gasping for air.
Was awarded a blue badge for very little mobility.. and on the 20th im walking a sports relief mile. I feel good |

Don't let a little thing put you off as its your resilience and determination that will be your best asset in this fight ..there will always be another week and if you keep going you will get there I'm sure.
As much as you have moments that might make you feel your going backwards you'll have great moments where it feels like it's all going your way and fantastic.

Never been in a gym in my life, but I find I'm better on the bike in the evenings.
I cycle to work, physical job, cycle home then 30 minutes high intensity on the turbo, 600 calories in 26 minutes is average.
Now the lighter evenings are almost upon us I'll do one evening ride of around 25 miles and one of around 36 miles midweek, then a 60+mile ride at the weekend.
That's around 10'000 calories I think. |

What I prefer and what I can do are entirely different things.
At the moment i alternate between mid afternoon / Saturday AM which is quiet to after work which is manic. |
