I find our electric fan oven good with meat but had varying success with things like Yorkshire pudding
and a gas hob a good mixture if you have power cuts |

Gas hob and electric oven and grill.
My cooking style uses the hob a lot more than the oven.
The main oven and grill had not been used for over 2 years, as I prefer to use the combi oven on conventional mode for its oven and grill instead.

"I recently moved to a house with an electric hob and oven. Having always had gas hobs and ovens in the past I am really struggling to cook on electric. Any hints or tips please"
.
Is the hob halogen or induction please?
As for the oven, heat something that is cheap to test it, like pizza or chips.
190 deg C is about Gas Mark 5/6 I believe.

You did the typical turn it up job didn't you lol, I am used to gas and recently moved to a flat that is electric, it takes a lot longer to heat up and a lot longer to cool down than a gas ring, be prepared for a few accidents until you get used to it |

"Its induction"
.
With the right saucepans it should be a lot faster to heat up (as in contents inside the saucepan) and cool down (as in the surface of the hob) than a halogen hob.
My advice would be to boil water in each of your saucepans/frying pan and gauge the time it takes to boil.
Practice makes perfect, and don't walk away and leave anything unattended for long until you are mastered using the hob. |

I refuse to pay over the odds for something that can be done relatively cheaply and easily. "
I know but sometimes if i do a 12 hour shift, combined with travelling ( i work 50 miles away) i am gone from house 14 hours so want something fast |

Gas is more immediate, so the electric just takes longer and is less responsive, once you get used to that idea, you should be fine!
I have had both, prefer gas but currently have electric lol |
