Newcastle-under-Lyme

Did a long cam show once playing with DSOTM playing in the background. Had as many viewers complimenting on the music as the view

Coming to Great Gig In The Sky was mandatory, of course

Time for an anniversary listen!

.

It's one of my favourite bits of trivia.

Technically there is no dark side, both the far side and the near side receive about equal amounts of direct sunlight.

However due to the moon having a 28 "day" rotation which is the exact same time as one rotation around us, the far side always appears dark to us ie in our shadow., the name the dark side was originally meant as the unknown not a direct meaning of "dark".

As far as floyd were concerned, ultimately better together.

Seen Floyd post waters 3 times and waters 3 times also.

Earliest recollection of Floyd was an older cousin playing the newly released Wall, which at 10 I thought wtf is that... And seeing the album cover of Dark Side, forever in the chart section at Asda...

This with Wish you were here and the wall, and Waters, pros and cons and radio kaos are my personal favourites of floyd/waters stuff. Not to say the other stuff isn't great.

When we colonise it and start running buses up there the street lights and buses will brighten up some of the darker bits.

Best group ever in my opinion - the fact that 45 years on my children's generation is as fond of them as I was/ am says something about how great they were. Aussie tribute was remarkable, too.

I stand corrected it is of course 43 years but the release date was 10th March 1973 in the US.It stayed in the charts there for 741 weeks , the longest run in history.

Just seven years to the 50th then.

Whilst I almost agree; and have had to replace the pro's and cons many times over the years due to over playing

I have to say that "In the Flesh" is the best set of music I have ever listened to and watched as dvd

The amazing music produced by;

Roger Waters – bass guitar, acoustic & electric guitar, lead and backing vocals

Doyle Bramhall II – guitars, lead and backing vocals

Andy Fairweather Low – guitars, bass guitar, backing vocals

Snowy White – electric & acoustic guitars

Andy Wallace – keyboards, Hammond organ, backing vocals

Jon Carin – keyboards, lap steel, programming, acoustic guitar, lead and backing vocals

Katie Kissoon – backing vocals, percussion

Susannah Melvoin – backing vocals, percussion

P. P. Arnold – backing vocals, percussion

Graham Broad – drums, percussion

Norbert Stachel – saxophones

and what a stunning voice Katie Kissoon has

Have to agree with the above posters, Waters is the man, while I love my Floyd the post waters era hasn't got the same bite.

The pros and cons is one of the finest albums I've listened to.

Spot on - it is a very personal thing.

I don't get the Beatles, bar for a couple of songs, I don't get the Stones, again bar for a couple of songs. PF for me is also something that reminds me of a fab time in my life. As you said.. Personal!
