I wonder what people are making of the SNP interfering with English and English and Welsh matters?
Last night they caused a Government defeat on extending Sunday hours in England and Wales. Then we find they extended those hours in Scotland. They recently caused a similar defeat on an attempt to loosen the English foxhunting laws having loosened the same laws in Scotland.
Without getting into the specifics of those matters is this just 'Westminster politics', simple hypocrisy or something more serious for UK democracy? |

If the tories were all agreed on the Sunday trading hours then the SNP wouldn't be an issue as the tories have a majority. Too many tory rebels on this issue that's why they lost the vote. I think it does smack of hypocrisy though when the SNP have the extended Sunday trading in Scotland and then they vote to block it in England and Wales. |

It's politics, hypocrisy, and was always going to happen sooner or later. I'm pleased they've used what I consider to be quite an insignificant issue to get their first little act of annoyance/rebellion out of the way. Hopefully it'll keep them quiet for a while. |

It seems the 'English Votes for English Matters' didn't work then ...
I don't mind MPs speaking on matters as that helps debate but voting is a different matter IMHO. |

"It's hilarious ...

May as well laugh about it , because when you consider how ludicrous it is and the possible consequences ahead , it would make you furious .
Hypocritical , childish behaviour , but no more than we could expect . They promised they would do this and now they are keeping that promise .
The sooner labour provide a viable alternative the better , because the scots will never vote Tory , any more than a scouser buying the sun .
And I'm a Tory , and genuinely pissed off by our constitutional rights being decided by those who already have what they want , and maliciously denying it to us . |

I find the argument advanced by the Fish (Sturgeon and Salmon) rather tenuous. I don't think extending opening hours in England would make any difference to Scottish pay.
I think it was rather petty of the SNP to even vote on the issue.
As to whether we should extend hours, I am in two minds. I can still get to a supermarket on a Sunday, should I so desire, so perhaps it is not such an important issue. |
