Why stay in contact with crap people? All this family blood thing is rubbish. You wouldn't stay friends with tossers you're not related to. Just get rid.  |

I've seen how destructive falling out with family can be through friends experiences, have yet to see a positive outcome in the long term.
At this stage of my life though I can't imagine what mine could ever do to make me want to cut all ties. Don't get me wrong they can be funny fuckers at times but I guess so can I.

I cut all.ties with.my mother, and it hurts like hell, but we can't have a relationship, and me nit being around her is better for her, and I didn't have to hear that she was disappointed that I didn't turn out more like my brother, who has been in a 30 year relationship with a woman he don't love, yeah I'm.the loser.
I miss my mother, I even love my mother, I love her so.much I stay away, for her.
The sad part is that she has dementia, and now has no recollection if me at all,and asks when she sees me in photographs, who the black boy? They told her I'm a friend of my brothers, and she's less confused by that than explaining that she has another son.
Ok its 2 in the morning and I couldn't sleep to start with, and now I'm crying, in off back to bed |

Not seen or heard from my brother for 25 years...2 weeks ago,I buried our Farther as I did with our Mother.Someone at the pub thought I was a good idea to hand me a tablet...guess who was on line...yes my brother.The conversation lasted 5 seconds with 2 words said...FUCK OFF...handed the tablet back and told them to stick it their arse and make him feel at home |

I don't have too much family left
Only a couple of cousins (ma mam's twin sisters') who keep in contact occasionally. There are other cousins scattered around the country, but I would be non the wiser if one of them dropped dead tomorrow nor them me.... |

Way back, when I came out to everyone with my gender issues, most of my family were fine about it.
However my sister was not and the poisonous bitch did all she could to turn my mother against me. She succeeded and the fallout they created even left me with some PTSD that I had to have therapy for to deal with.
I tried my hardest to forgive them but eventually had to sever all ties because I can deal with their attitudes of being blameless. My mother refuses to accept that choice and every birthday and Christmas, I get a card that threatens to reopen the wounds. If I had the money, I would get a solicitor to sort it out.
Family situations are always difficult to navigate but I strongly believe that you come first and if family are damaging you, then you have to do what's right for yourself. |

I have a brother, sister and mother I've not spoken to for over a decade, the father in law has also chose to cut all ties with his daughter and grandchildren because of his stubbornness  |

For me and Biker Girl to be together we have both had to totally cut our families out of our lives. A very long and tragic story. Not our choice but when people don't accept the person you love because of their own selfish reasons drastic and incredibly painful measures have to be taken. I have divorced my family, not in a legal sense but emotionally, they'll never see us again |
