The nasty bastards are at it again - harassing trans folk for their trashy tabloid fodder!
I'd have thought they would learn the lesson from how they had a hand in the suicide of the teacher, but no!

The Mail is a rag that appeals and panders to small minded little englanders, racists and homophobes. It is never cutting edge with its stories, often lifting them from the previous day's chip wrappings. It is however very popular with the section of society that prefer trousers with elasticated waistbands, moccasins and stairlifts. |

Strange then, that it has one of the largest circulations of any UK paper.
Then that means most of the population match your description.
Lorry drivers, doctors, nurses, using stair lifts wearing moccasins.

I like the Daily Mail For its good Boxing and limited UFC coverage.
I judge the news stories on merit and my own values.
All papers are nasty in their own ways.

I'm a lesbian hugging Guardian reader. I buy the Daily Telegraph once a week for political balance though.
I tried it with the Daily Mail on a number of occasions and came to the conclusion the owner/Editor/journalist was on a huge wind-up - it's an attempt to write down the thoughts of that pub-bore that starts droning on about life before the gays and darkies arrived as you order your shandy.
Unfortunately, it means upping the hits on their website, but the comments sections at the end of stories are always worth a read - unintentionally hilarious and scary in equal measure.
I'm sure the Guardian is more comfortable with swinging too . |

"Can't see the problem. Read it every day. Good paper!"
They were instrumental in harassing and outing the transgender primary school teacher, who then committed suicide. Not content from the coroner's criticism after her death, they're now harassing and threatening to out others. That would be enough for reasonable people to question the paper's morality.
I won't buy it, nor want to read it. |

I don't understand why they would blackmail somebody to come out before they're ready but that's sad if it's true. |

I can't forget the fact that the Daiky Mail openly supported Hitler,

It still relies on Jingoism and barely concealed racism for its support....

Yep. I remember that actually. Makes you very, very scared about some of the people who read that thing.
It's really well written, but with an agenda. Fantastic exercise in conditioning people to think a certain way, ie to be sexist or misogynistic, racist, anti state(what's the point of taxes, etc), and pandering to gluttony(house prices house prices house prices!), and scaremongering on a daily basis about health. Oh, and perpetuating homophobia.Just a hate filled rag which does very well out of stimulating and preying on some people's basic fears about life.
Check out this song about it. Kind of sums them up:

The problem is that when we are 'outed' it has real emotional and financial repercussions for us. Families might disown us, friends might stop seeing us, employers might sack us, and clients might stop using us.
I do like the idea that everyone should be able to be 'out' - and I outed myself for exactly that reason (at great personal cost). However it is up to the individual to make the decision as to when their life is stable enough to cope with them being out. They might want to tell their Mum and Dad first, they might need to secure a set of new, more open-minded clients.
Not everything is simple. |

Continueing the theme set out by you Manchestercub I have to say that the Daily Mail is the vilest apology for a newspaper that ever existed.
Although my wife buys it I simply refuse to read it or even look at it. It is so vile the owners should be charged under the Obscene Publications Act.

They are entitled to publish whatever they line ( free speech) as long as it's within the law.( it steers just on the right side of the law to avoid actually being prosecuted for racism)
By problem with it is that it doesn't do much " reflect views" as both
1. Take moderate people and persuade them to harden their attitudes
2. Pander to, and influence, the gullible. |

We believe that newspapers report the news. In actuality they push their own agenda and political stance. That is the reason why Rupert Murdoch is one of the most powerful and potentially dangerous people on the planet. His news channels, Newspapers and other media outlets influence opinions in a much subtler way than most people realise. |

"Didn't an AMerican anchorwoman quit live on air in protest at editorial interference?"
There were two very public walkouts on RT. One was Abby Martin who complained about Russia actions against Ukraine by taking back Crimea (after the West put in pro-EU Poroshenko as a puppet after ousting Russian backed Yanukovych), so she was wrong on that one because Russia was simply trying to stop NATO swiping Ukraine under their wing in contravention of the NATO pact which states NATO will not expand. Russia saw it as an act of aggression because once they have a puppet in Ukraine like Yats/Proshenko and Ukraine joins the EU, then NATO can be on their border, which the Russians knew all along, most people know Putin isn't stupid. So yes, Abby Martin backed the wrong horse despite claiming to be anti war and all that jazz.
The other was Liz Wahl and if you dig a bit deeper with her links to a guy called James Kirchik at the FPI, all becomes clear, it was planned lol.
As for Al Jazeera (and even BBC) just google or youtube "Al Jazeera lies" especially as regards Syria. The Al Thani despot owners of A/J, just like the UK/US and Saudis have been very keen on trying to oust Assad using "moderate rebels" (i.e loons), whilst Russia has been trying to help the existing secular government there.
Oh and also really it's all about a pipeline from Qatar (where A/J is based) Syria refused to go along with. |

There is a difference between having an opinion and slanting a story to suit an agenda. A prime example is the London Underground, the strikes were over changes to contracts, rosters, manning levels and safety issues. The Mail reported the strike as being about pay. The Mail also blamed certain industrial action on the RMT Union when that action was called by another Union entirely. If it doesn't suit their agenda, the Newspapers will lie. |
