You put it around your body and attatch the thing to your finger you got to be careful that doesnt come of in the night else they wont get a reading i had to have it done three times before they could get a proper reading

that's the hilarious thing. You have the test for insomina and sleep apnia but you got to be asleep for a certain length of time for them to get a reading

You have my sympathy. I don't sleep very well at the best of times due to an active mind (my diagnosis) but once went for four months when I didn't sleep....I might have had very short moments of sleep of course ....and became exhausted. It's a terrible thing to go to bed with the knowledge you're not going to sleep but I don't need to tell you that!

The way I got out of the rut of not sleeping was not to eat too late and change the sort of things I would normally do before I went to bed....it was a sort of 'breaking the routine' approach. I'm aware though that these sort of things won't work for everyone but we all have routines even if we dont always realise it so it may be worth a try.

Good luck Ruby - I hope the test leads to effective treatment for you. I should have had it a few years ago, as my sleep is abysmal - but didn't as mixed the dates up, then didn't follow through.

I suffer from hypnogogic myoclonus..(that involuntary twitch where you feel like you are falling as you drift off)

Basically I hit deep sleep cycle way faster than normal so all of the chemicals released that stop you moving while you dream hasnt had time to kick in. Can be very disconcerting.
